AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Feb 26, 2008 2004 cork date. Hazy copper color with a tan head. A strong raspberry jam aroma overpowers all others. Light carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel. taste is first raspberry then a mildly tart, dry wheat flavor with wood to finish. Heavy on the sweet flavors. 3267 nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Feb 17, 2008 On tap at Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore during Belgian fest. Got this one for the girlfriend but it was surprisingly balanced. Looks, tastes and smells like raspberries. Slight malt offsets the sweet fruit flavor. Finish keeps the fruity flavor in the mouth. More balanced than other lambics you might have had. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Feb 14, 2008 Bottle. Clear medium amber red color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, roasted, sour, moderate to light heavy raspberry, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light sour with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (110208) SoLan (1369), Orlando, Florida, USA Feb 8, 2008 Brown with a bit of ruby. Small off white head. Juicy sour raspberry aroma. Raspberry is also strongly present in the taste which has a good sweet and sour balance. Very nice although it would be interesting to see how much of this is actually natural raspberry! Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Jan 18, 2008 So, I heard this brewery is going out of business, so I scooped up a few bottles of their stuff. This beer, from a paper wrapped, 355 ml bottle with cork, poured a ruby bruin with a fluffy off-white head. Nose of sweet and sour raspberries and delicious natural candy. Fresh, crisp and clean. Even after aging since 2006, this beer was prime. Lots of chunkage around the mouth of the bottle. Not puckering sour, but just right. And the sweetness, quite balanced. Yum! jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Jan 16, 2008 Protectively paper wrapped caged corked 355 ml. green bottle, (2.005) on the cork, best before date on the cap (NOV2015), sampled in a snifter.
L: Reddish tarnished bronze with a compact unbleached beige head of sudsy foam that settled into a thin bubbly lacing. Light amounts of sticky lace.
S: An explosion of fresh raspberries, sweet and tart, quite juicy smelling. A mildly tangy yeastiness and hints of sugar.
F&T: A nice syrupy feel in mouth, slick on the tongue, softly crisp and dry. This strikes a near perfect balance between the sweet and sour of pureed raspberry. Mildly sweet and tart raspberries with a little seediness, and a light underflow of softly sour raspberry syrup. Lingering traces of sugary raspberry juice in the aftertaste. No trait overwhelms the other, everything is in sweet harmony.
