Bottle. Pours red-brown with a poorly lasting head. Aromas of raspberries and citric sourness. The taste is sweet and sour; fruitiness and a burning acidity struggling back and forth until the acidity gets the dominance at the end. A good but a bit unbalanced beer.

Classic fruit beer based on ’oud bruin’, this one with raspberries, since 1985 but unfortunately discontinued when Moortgat took over the Liefmans brand - but I wouldn’t be surprised if it returns one day. Very fruity aroma of fresh, real raspberries and even a hint of raspberry bush, as in the best framboises made with lambic; the maltiness is nicely blended in as well as the woodiness and acidity. Great, elegant and complex beer, of the same profile as Liefmans Kriekbier (now Liefmans Cuvée Brut), just a bit sweeter and more fruit-dominated.

Beige very weak head. Bright red copper\mahogany colour. Aroma is fruity, sweet with ribes, raspbery and blackberry notes, slightly sour. Flavor is fruity too with raspberry, strawberry, cherry and honey tones, ending in a sweet, fruity finish. Medium to full bodied.

The body has a deep dark, nearly opaque presentation with slightly reddish/purple hue. There is some visible carbonation near the edges of the glass. At the top there is sits a tall thick pinkish/tan head. It is long lasting and make for some great lace rings on the glass. Its aroma has hints of raspberry, malt and some good funky yeast. The flavor has a nice natural fruity raspberry taste mixing with a lightly sweet malt that gives a nice balance to the slight tartness of the raspberry. The touch of yeast adds some light earthy/funk and complexity. Its medium bodied with soft lightly fizzy texture and carbonation.

Bottle from my basement that has been ageing for well over a decade. Poured purple, with a slightly brown hue. There was no head, but some visible carbonation. Aroma of cooked raspberries, pastry and blackcurrant. More raspberries in the flavour, kind of like a nice raspberry pie, some straw in the mix. Finish was real fruit flavours, some crisp apple and biscuit.
