Robe blonde paille très claire surmontée d’une mousse blanche mince qui persiste. Arômes de jus de pomme. Saveurs de sirop de pommes.

Apple beer in the former Fruitesse series with which Riva tried to exploit the Liefmans brand. Golden blonde, hazy beer which smelled and tasted like apple juice and apple cider, but not much else. Sweet, sugary apple taste with sourish notes, ’unbeery’. Never liked witbier-based fruit beers and this one wasn’t any different.

Originally rated February 2008. Comes in a tin bottle with 03/2010 written on bottle cap. Pours a light golden colour with a small white head and lots of tiny flakes floating through it. Lacing is decent all-around, and the carbonation is low. The aromas are like apple juice with mild honey. Says it contains 25% apple juice. The taste is quite different from what I expected. The apple is present, but not like the usual apple beers where it taste like fake apples. The flavours also has a touch of pineapple and slight nut. I also taste a little mint in there. Still, a refreshing light fruit beer with a mouthfeel that is not sticky.

Early amateur rating warning! Sweet apple beer, very drinkable. Perhaps a bit too sweet.

Can: Poured a fizzy light yellow color beer with a small foamy head. Taste of fructose and apple is refreshing though more akin to apple syrup then actual apples. Taste is very sweet with some fake apple taste. Refreshing but not something I would wish to have again.

0.25 l bottle. Golden color. Sweet perfumed apple aroma with notes of almonds. Sweet slightly acidic and candyish apple flavor. Almost like a sweet cider.

Bottled, 330ml from Hopduvel Warehouse, Ghent. Yellow gold with white head. Sometimes you know something isn’t going to work, but you still go for it and this is certainly a case for me. It was an amalgam of all the characters I don’t like to get in a beer all in one, cidery apple, sweetness, chemical notes and an odd almond note. Poor.

Bottle. Medium head with medium duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are malt, ripe apples and lots of apple juice.

Bottled. A hazy light golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of apples. The flavor is sweet with very strong notes of apples as well as subdued notes of malt, leading to a dry finish. Not really me.

25 cL bottle. Pours almost clear yellow with a lacing white head. Dry phenol apple aroma. Sweet flavoured with a light oxidised note. Finish is cane sugarish sweet with a light almond note.
