Heated tap at the Dresden’s Strietzelmarkt; pours a dark reddish brown with a pink head; spicy glühwein and cherry aroma; taste of tart cherries and spices; sour dry finish; not real sure what to expect but this was very good

On tap, served warm, at Kerstbierfest 2014. Deep almost opaque red-brown pour with no head. Aroma of cherries, mulled wine, cinnamon, cherry pie, leathery cherry aromas, quite nice actually. Taste is sweet, slightly cloying cherry and spice, a bit heavy. Palate is med-full bodied with light carbonation. Tastes a lot like mulled wine I think, only quite a bit better than your average cup of crap from the Christmas market.

Flaska systembolaget. Brunröd kulör. Doft av mogna sockrade körsbär och bubbelgum. Den ouppvärmda har en syrligare torrare doft.Smaken drar tydligt åt körsbär. Viss syra i eftersmaken men överlag åt det sötare hållet.

(Bottle, warmed to 70C, @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Dec 15 2014) Deep clear brownish red pour with a big pale pink head. Nose has lots of black cherries, brown sugar, spice box, raisin, light acidic funk. Flavour like aroma really, black cherry pie filling, sweet, lightly spiced with cinnamon etc., some other berry notes too. A little acid in the back, both lactic and acetic. Medium bodied with fairly low carbonation and a slight sticky feeling, maybe because the character feel makes me think it should be syrupy. Definitely was a lot better when warm, less sweet and cloying and more acidic in character. Much easier to drink then, when it made a decent substitute for a mulled wine.

Nice lambicy taste. The sourness and Cherry taste harmonizes well. The hot warm and cool state are all nice, but it’s better hot, especially because that’s what it’s done for.

Red-brown color, off-white head. Cherry nose, almonds, strawberry, light spicy. Very sweet taste, cherry, spice. Medium to light body, soft carbonation, sticky texture. Served cold, need to rate a warm sample.

Bottle, warmed. Deep ruby liquid with medium pinkish white head. Aroma of cinnamon, almonds, cherries, raw sugar, cloves and lemon. Taste is light sweet and light to medium sour with notes of cinnamon, cardamom, gingerbread, raw sugar, lemon and light vinegar. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. A pretty nice gluhwein substitute.

Draught and warmed up at the Weihnachtsmarkt in Schwelm. Clear, dark red with a thick, creamy, stable, reddish-white head. Heavy aroma of cherries, Glühwein, cinnamon and red wine. Awesome taste that is medium sweet and slightly sour with lots of cherries, Glühwein, cinnamon and red wine. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel, no carbonation. What a nice experience. Much better than a simple Glühwein. Compared to other fruit beers, it was probably so good because it was warmed up.
