Light coloured brown with red highlights and small white head on top. Aroma is slight tart, with fruity accents and woody notes. Taste is quite complex and very nice is balance, nice lactic yoghurt touches, hints of wood, cansi sugar, slight herbal and fine earthy.

Bottle. Reddish brown pour. Plenty of barnyard funk in the aroma with a splash of fruit and raisins. Intense flavours of green apples, prunes, sour cherries, raisins. Excellent sour, fruity finish. Extremely good oud bruin.

Bottle, paper wrapping. Pours a brune body with with a thin lacing. Sour cherry notes, some light grapes and tart apples. A bit vinous with a modest etoh cherry note. Sour malted apples with a light vinegar note. Nice sour.

375 ml bottle. corcked bottle (I always lik that). sour smell. dark amber, almost brown colour. small tan head. great complex taste, sour with hints of earth. kind like a Geuaze, but darker, roasted ... not cheap, but well worth the money

( 750ml bottle) pours absolutely no head, with no lacing. There are lots of big bubbles throughout, and TONS of chunky and yeasty floaters. Very dark brown; reminds me of maple syrup in color only. Nice in several ways, lacking in a couple of others. Smells of brown sugar and maybe caramel in the background with tinge of vinegar too. Taste is very smooth and complex. Notes of white wine-like grapes and other fruits, vinegar finish and not at all bitter. Extremely drinkable. Undercarbonated quite a ways. It is good in almost every other way though. Could use a little more creaminess too which would come with more carbonation.

(Bottle, 0.375 l - cork had marking 2007, at Janoinen Lohi) Poured deep red and lightly hazy with very small, quick and white head. Aroma contained sweetness, tartness and raisin. Palate was medium bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, sourness, plum, berries, tartness, molasses and lightly bitterness. Aftertaste contained sour and berries.

Dark reddish brown with a big pale beige head that settles slowly and leaves a nicely looking lid of foam. Distinct aromas of overripe fruit (apples), some sweet candy-like aromas, raisins, light phenols, a faint note of funky barn, wood and tart vinegar. A pleasant smell full of character. A fantastic taste, just really really good. A great blend of sweetness and tartness develops in the mouth with the sweetness taking just the slightest of leads. Notes of cherries, apples, plums and some raisins. A faint note of sweet candy. Some vinegar, wet wood and a note of daring yet subtle yeast. The finish is gently bitter with a rich tartness mixed with some phenols, minerals and raisins. This is just a very tasty brew. Medium body, well balanced carbonation. Slightly chewy and sticky in the mouth with a somewhat dry finish. I really like Goudenband, nothing but a classic. It’s just unbelievably tasty. Very easy to drink as well and I can easily drink a 750 ml bottle of this stuff by myself. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

murky rusty brwon/red. oxidized aroma, like sherry, apples. Flavour is fruity and slightly sour, quite enjoyed this.
