Borresteijn (1349), Amstelveen, Netherlands Aug 8, 2008 On tap. Dark brownish purple colour, thick head. Vinous aroma of red fruits, tart, yeast. Oh man, where to start, there’s so much going on in the flavours of this beer. It’s ping-pong on your tongue between sour, tart, red fruits, red wine, some sweetness, with a rich and dry finish. After the first shock of the sourness all the fine flavours come out. Prickly mouthfeel, refreshing. One hell of a tasting beer! allfreej (358), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jul 27, 2008 Bottled. Dark brown pour, with a dense tan head. Nose was raisins, canned brown bread, molasses. Flavor was sweet malt balanced by a sour wine. Slight hint of alcohol. The mouthfeel was nicely carbonated and added to the richness of the offering. The finish was slightly sweet, but ended dry. The flavor was very complex. A wonderful taste experience! austone (999), Turku; Pori, Finland Jul 20, 2008 Murky ruby, small beige head. Vinous, sourish aroma, raisins, red currants and a hint of Funkadelic. Dried fruity, tart flavor with berries, little syrupy maltiness. Acidic, sharp finish. Nice and interesting for sure, but I just don’t find it as complex as the legend says. Madsnp (610), Odense C, Denmark Jul 10, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown with a nice light brown head. The head is quickly turned into a thin film. Aromas of apples, cherries, vinegar, dark fruit and sweet sugar. Flavours of cherries, cane sugar, vinegar and raisins. Very drinkable. A little like Duchesse de Bourgogne.. Ober (1161), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Jul 7, 2008 A hazy, dark red/brown colored beer, with a beige head. The aroma is sour, dark fruits, with some malty bitterness. The taste is complex. It’s a little sour and some sweet. A little chocolate with cherries. There are no cherries in it. It’s full of flavour. A very good Flemish Brown. azlondon (656), Fribourg, Switzerland Jun 30, 2008 Appearance: Dark brown, slightly red. Nice amount of head. Pretty longlived.
