Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

Aroma: fruits, caramel, dark berries. Appearance: dark brown/black, medium beige frothy head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: fruity, bitters vining up quickly, refreshing, light sours. Overall: excellent Sour Ale, actually quite sweet in tsar and palate. Pint at The Times, Ypres.

Is dit wel bier? Nauwelijks koolzuur.

Dark brown with yellowish foam that lasts somewhat. Sour with tones of wood and chemicals in the aroma. Sour, raisins, a bit of alcohol and sweet bitterness in the aftertaste, Hits you in the back of the mouth to the sides. Great beer where you can really taste the oak it was lagered in. High in carbon.

Aroma is complex with esters cherries slight spiciness and some sourness. Dark cherries dominate the aroma. It pours a deep brown with ruby red highlights. A light tan moderate head with moderate retention. Flavor is malt forward with the dark cherries dominating. Some sour upfront finishes tart with no hop. It has a medium mouthfeel with moderate to high carbonation where style dictates moderate carbonation. A sweet tart slightly dry finish. Overall it's malt forward with lots of dark cherries and dark fruit with a sourness that follows. It needs less carbonation which is necessary so as to not distract from the complex flavor profile.

Sour, acetic acid, and distinct soy sauce aromas. Sounds disgusting but the first impression soon gets worse. I was then introduced to old oxidized hard raisin flavors mixed with rotting plums. But as always, this seems to grow on me by at least midway.... The light medium body, low residual sugar, and low medium effervescent body is amazingly quaffable. Some fruit and cookie/graham cracker flavors enhance what has grown on me. Surprisingly nice. This always seems like my first approach to sashimi, slightly reticent approach, initially repulsed and then something of a love.
