crosswalk (1), USA does not count Jul 24, 2007 A wonderful combination of Flemish sour ale and malty brown ale making it an incredibly complex and easy to drink ale. Kept reminding me of Lindemans Peche lambic ale.
waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jul 23, 2007 bottle. mahogony with thin tan head. sweet fig, baked bread, raison, floral hops, yeast and sugar, citric aroma. very crisp. nice moderate sourness. hard cider like tartness. burnt caramel malts, sugars, nuts, dark fruits. well balanced. delicious lethe (168), Stony Brook by way of Cincinnati, New York, USA Jul 20, 2007 Lively carbonation and foamy head round out a brown ale pour that has a nose of flemish sour tartness and a fair amount of woody toast. Palate is dry and sparkling with the best of the sours. The flavor of this brew is really quite rich. The tartness and astringency of the sour ale are complemented by the maltiness of the brown ale with a refreshing nutty finish. This is an excellent pairing of styles and an explosively rich brew overall. OleR (2008), Oslo, Norway Jul 20, 2007 Bottle@Plan B, Copenhagen. Small khaki head quickly fading into a small layer of foam. Clear dark burgund body. Fresh and fruity, almost tart acidicy to the nose. Surprisingly mellow and rounded taste, compared to the aroma: A gentle fruit-sweetness along with a mild lambik-like sourness in perfect balance. Good body. Dry and slight vinous mouthfeel. Nice fruity finish. A wonderful beer, a classic! Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2007 not much to look at, like prune juice. still it gives off a fruity punch, with a sharp bite. a keeper nick76 (2636), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2007 The aroma has funky yeast, sourness, tartness, and brown sugar. The appearance is like a flat cola with a foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall I don’t really like it. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Jul 13, 2007 [bottle, 2006] Tart aroma, fruity with some woody oak character and slight acidity. Looks great-- dark brown with a ruddy tan head. Nice lacing. Funky vinegar and malt flavors, with some good tartness throughout. Nice sweet and sour balance. Full bodied; the alcohol content hides nicely, providing a little warmth in the finish. 17thfloor (1403), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 12, 2007 Updated: Jan 9, 2008Murky mahogany pour slight red tinge with a little white froth for a head. Acidic aroma not too offensive for a flemish sour. Body is sticky sweet with minimal carbonation, would be better if it was a little more airy maybe. Flavor is quite good a little bit nutty brown a little bit flemish sour, neither seems to be dominant but rather in balance. Would be better if the body was less sticky.
