I love yeast at the bottom, but not so much that I can only decant half the beer. Muddy brown with a full Belgian foam. Aromatically mediocre. It’s very applely, with a blend of granny smith and red apples. Also hints of banana bread. Definately more sweet than sour, and a beer that’s rumored to have gone through numerous changes the past decade. Maybe this was once a classic, but that was before my time. Now it’s just a sweet, drinkable, approachable brown ale. It has a unique taste, but is just too sweet and one dimensional. daniele (1668), Italy

Kept reminding me of Lindemans Peche lambic ale.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 20, 2007 Lively carbonation and foamy head round out a brown ale pour that has a nose of flemish sour tartness and a fair amount of woody toast. Palate is dry and sparkling with the best of the sours. The flavor of this brew is really quite rich. The tartness and astringency of the sour ale are complemented by the maltiness of the brown ale with a refreshing nutty finish. This is an excellent pairing of styles and an explosively rich brew overall. OleR (2032), Oslo, Norway
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 20, 2007 Bottle@Plan B, Copenhagen. Small khaki head quickly fading into a small layer of foam. Clear dark burgund body. Fresh and fruity, almost tart acidicy to the nose. Surprisingly mellow and rounded taste, compared to the aroma: A gentle fruit-sweetness along with a mild lambik-like sourness in perfect balance. Good body. Dry and slight vinous mouthfeel. Nice fruity finish. A wonderful beer, a classic! Palidor19 (1762), Brandon, Florida, USA

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Jul 19, 2007 The aroma has funky yeast, sourness, tartness, and brown sugar. The appearance is like a flat cola with a foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall I don’t really like it.
