lgklotet (420), Singapore, Singapore Jul 11, 2007 Bottle - 37,5 cl at Akkurat. Yup... this is pretty damn near perfect, deep ruby red, thick long-lasting head. Perfect carbonation. And that aroma... sweet and sour, rich and complex. Taste is the only aspect where I’m left wanting a little more.. I could go for more flavour. Perhaps cellaring will do the trick. The palate is perfect, rich and sweet but thanks to the tartness never cloying. I love this beer! sunevdj (1765), Copenhagen OE, Denmark Jul 9, 2007 Roskilde Festival Tasting. Pours a hazy brown. Sweet, like brown sugar. Bready with hints of rye. Also spicy towards the end. Not so good. WeeHeavySD (2940), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jul 5, 2007 375ml bottle 2001 vintage via trade with beastifan2k. Shared with bikesandbeer. Pours like apple cider with some bubbles that quickly disappeared. The nose is huge full of fruit, vinegar and funk. The taste is really nicely sour with hints of fruitiness. The taste lingers and is overall pretty solid. Great beer. Thanks again beastie. dyetube (397), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 27, 2007 This beer pours a deep brown with a very thin tan head. The beer smells very sweet and sour (yes I know those two contrast each other). The taste is something completely differnet than any beer I’ve had. It’s got that sweet belgian suggar flavor but it ends with a sour punch that is really great! This is an awesome beer! I really like it and I didn’t think I would! Cheers! Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 27, 2007 (cork says 2.006)brown in color with a reddish tint.nice white head that leaves some heavy webbing.aroma is a bit nutty, with some funk and cherries.very nice flavor of wheat, tartness, cherries, caramel malts, and grapes.this is proof that a beer can be sour without being obnoxious. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 25, 2007 Updated: Nov 9, 2007Smells sweetish, metallic, and almost wine-like. Pours a chocolately brown with LOTS of suspended yeast/proteins all throughout and a short lived off white head. Incredibly unappealing look from the excessive yeast/protein particles hanging out like mini shreds of wet toilet paper floating stationary like gel capsules. Taste is smooth, overly sweet, a touch alcoholic, and some nice sourness. Honestly tastes like a mix of brown ale and a cheap reisling wine. If you want your beer this sweet, you should just drink dessert wines, or champagne. The sourness is interesting but the sweetness level is not something I want in my beer, and although I’m sure tons of people appreciate this style, I found at least this one cloying and left the last half for the sink. Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Jun 18, 2007 Bottle. High creamy light brown head. Hazy brown body. Caramel sinnamon aroma. Weird sinnamon flavor. Long aftertaste. Low carbonation. kramer (2406), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 13, 2007 25 oz bottle, Well’s Discount Liquors. Pours a reddish mahogany colored body, clear on first pour, with a dense light brown head one inch in height. Lots of carbonation maintains the head for the duration. The aroma is of dense fruitiness, lots of raisin, plum, cherry skins, light yeast, and in general quite vinous. The flavor is just slightly tart, yet still fairly sweet as well. Lots of tart cherry skins, cherry pits, plum, light yeast, and a touch of vinegar on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied and quite creamy in texture with perfect soft light carbonation. A nice crisp tartness on the finish. This was a great Oud Bruin. Exactly what I picture in my mind for a Belgian Oud Bruin. I had no problem finishing a 750 of this by myself, whereas the Kriek and Frambozen were a little hard to finish.
