Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

Pours a medium brown. Wow is this sour. Nice but hard to finish a full 750 ml.

Thanx to Boboski for sharing this magnum.Poured ruby red with a thin, lacing head.Hugh sour aroma.Tastes of sour cherry that has mellowed a bit with some sweetness peaking out.The finish was mildly sour.

Portion from a magnum courtesy boboski. Ruby-brown with loose soapy head. Slightly sharp aroma but pretty mild for a Flemish sour. Taste is mildly sweet, with apple and oak notes. Finish very dry. A bit undercarbonated for my taste, but good.

Pours a light caramel brown with a very effervescent bubbly white head. The bubbles seem to stick to the side of the glass. Smells of sour apple or cherries, pretty sweet and a little syrupy. The taste is slightly sour, with big citrus fruit, mostly apples. Quite flavorful. The sourness is more of a mild sourness, a little funky but still very good.

75 cL, impressive head and carbonation for a Flemish sour. Sweet-malty aroma, flavor initially quite sweet, almost like cough syrup, then some faint tartness before the best part: a filthy-musty, malty, bitter background. I wanted some more sour during that bridge between sweet and bitter. Not as fruity as other Flemish sours. A bit metallic. Some things missing here that would add even more depth, but still unique and interesting.

A splendid beer with complex taste and beer you can save for 20 years and longer. Tasted a new version along with a 20 year old versin. Still perfect to drink not that sour anymore but still a perfect beer. One of the best sour ales

Shimmering brown pour with some dusty red hues blended softly into the body. A small beige head is drawn from adequate carbonation, good retention. Minor lacing. Aroma is soft and moderately complex. Vinous notes are joined by herbs, French oak scents, brown sugar, lightly funky sourness, cherries, prunes and apples. Light yeastiness and lighter still alcohol settle in late. Odd, though mouth-watering. Flavor is of medium tartness, very mild bitterness, moderate acidity, medium-high sweetness and emblazoned with a badge of sour caramels and dark and melon-textured fruits. The finish is tart and fruity, off-dry and pretty elegant. A very flavorful sour brown, especially because of the sexy vinous nature. I love wine-reminiscent beers. The mouthfeel is soft but adequately carbonated, sticky and medium bodied. A very unique and treasured example that always has a home in my cellar, likewise in my kitchen. Never has the flavor of a beer provoked such anticipatory thoughts of a sure-to-be winning food and beer pairing. This would seem to be, and later turn out to be, a most stupendous match for baked salmon and steamed green beans with honey.
