muenster (339), Sevierville, Tennessee, USA Jan 12, 2007 Bottle. Pours hazy brown with a thin beige head. Aroma is quite sour, some ripe fruit, some woody notes, and some earth as well. Flavor has quite a bit a sweet malts that go well with the typical Flemish sourness. Quite enjoyable. CMUBEERMAN (415), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jan 12, 2007 2006...courtesy of zebracakes...live in tokyo. Pours a bit of cloudy coca cola...with a light tan head. Aroma is a bit of sour malt and a bit of funky fruit. Flavor is similar...subtle, but balanced...there is also some notes of higher alcohol...quite tasty. Mouthfeel is medium and a pretty sweet dryness. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Jan 12, 2007 Bottle. Vintage 2006. Pours hazy red caramel, thin off-white head. Aroma is apple, spices, plum, raisons, port, wheat. Flavor is tangy, spicy, wheat, fruit, but not too sweet. Well balanced. twindadplus2 (408), Wisconsin, USA Jan 7, 2007 2005 bottle according to the cork. Deep murky red with lots of floaties and a minimal head. Aroma is dusty malt with strong notes of sweet cherries and wine. Malty with a lightly acidic sourness up front that fades into a cherry sweetness and a nice dry finish. I didn’t think I cared for Flemish sours but this one is great. jazz88 (2235), San Francisco, California, USA Dec 24, 2006 Bottle of the 1996 vintage (rating from August 2005 notes). Reddish color with a laced tan head. The alcohol is too noticeable. Sour, dry, cask like mustiness. Salty. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA Dec 18, 2006 Bottle from 2005. Expiration date June 2015. Dark caramel/ garnet color with no head but somewhat decent carbonation. Burnt brown sugar, plums, leather, cherries, grapes and some vinegar in the aroma. Warming cherry notes along with some more dark fruits and a bit of vinegar. Very dry finish. No acidity. Aegrus (49), USA Dec 14, 2006 Bottled-Tulip Glass. Pours a dark brown with bubbly (not foamy) head, which lingers after thinning considerably. Aroma is faint for this particular bottle. Otherwise, Goudenband would smell of acidic malts, raisins and chicory. Tastes sweet and sour, citrus acidity, caramel, mildly bitter. Lovely mouth feel. Great beer. tomthompson89 (1460), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 12, 2006 ahh yes what a beer today im going to rate the 1988 vintage i had a few months ago. dark brown slightly funky nose, little plums and sour fruits. tastes just like a good port, so mellow as compared to some of the newer vintages, wonderful brew
