fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Dec 9, 2006 Bottle wrapped in paper. Dark brown color with a head that disappears. Aroma immediate hit of sour fruitiness, cherries, unripe plums, sloes, slightly vinous, with an underlying maltiness. Flavor is a complex sour fruit flavour, again, cherries, plums, sloes, plus crab apples and a sour wine element. Then there is the underlying maltiness that gives the finish a fine, sour taste. MarkoR (224), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 5, 2006 SImply delicious! Superb beer pours a brown colour. Generous head. Taste of fruits. StueyD (590), King’s Lynn, Norfolk, Norfolk, England Nov 19, 2006 Updated: Nov 20, 2006A dark, reddish brown coloured beer with a frothy, but weak white head. The nose is an immediate hit of sour fruitiness, cherries, unripe plums, sloes, slightly vinous, with an underlying maltiness throughout. The taste follows suit, with a complex sour fruit flavour, again, cherries, plums, sloes, plus crab apples and a sour wine element. Then there is the underlying maltiness that gives the finish a fine, sour taste. (Bottle - courtesy of Mark & Marie @ The Fox & Hounds, Heacham, Norfolk). Beer2000 (1775), Kristiansand, Norway Nov 16, 2006 Dark nut-brown body, almost clear. Nice, short lasting head. Light acidic aroma, gives me associating of an old cellar. Still a refreshing feeling somehow. Flavor is sweet, sour in a harmonic and complex way. Difficult to describe, I really love this beer. A nice example of flamish sour. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Nov 14, 2006 Pours a brown coca-cola murk...low head, but has a ring...sweet slight berry smell...wow! what an intresting smooth flavourful brew..alchohol is masked beutifully! magic! this is a very tasty different brew, had a cheese platter to compliment things, worked out very well and tasty. complex beer! CharlesDarwin (1824), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Oct 25, 2006 Brillant shimmering nose of ripe apple cores, sour Muscat liquor, soft supple Pluot flesh and ringing aged Balsamic. Clear ruby amber pour, with a fringe of gold and rim of white. Flavor a mildly watered, yet silky luxuriant malt sugar, draped in robes of cassis and sour apples. Delicate and perfumed. Soft and sweet, with dreamy laces of pear brandy and sauteed pork loin. Somewhere a vegetal growth stirs a leafy balance amongst the effusive vapors and the stinging sweet candy. Candied apples, sugared plums and soporific brandy fumes. It’s all so ethereal and escaping. Delicately delicious. Alcohol masked beneath graceful edification. All around a winner.
