pivnizub (4949), Bochum, Porúří, Germany Apr 8, 2005 Dark amber coloured with ruby sparks; no head, only a foamy layer with a very short half-life; very fruity and sourish nose (caramel, port-wine or sherry, hints of Havannas); fizzy, but smooth palate; caramel, winy and sour flavour; medium bodied, the alcohol is not overpowering; malty, sourish aftertaste. The right stuff to persuade a hard-headed wine-conoisseur....... Metalhead (570), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA Mar 25, 2005 330 ml corktop. Dated 2003. This beer was D-U-L-L. Poured an amber color with mild carbonation. Slightly acidic, woody and mildly vinous. $6 a bottle, what a waste. Didn’t suck but I expected much more. A HUGE disappointment for #200. BTW,the fruity flavors came out more in my belches than the actual tasting. Go figure. hawkshadow (102), Rural Retreat, Virginia, USA Mar 24, 2005 This is undoubtably the worst beer I have rated. I might as well have drank apple cider vinegar straight. Here you go.
Poured dark cloudy amber, no head, little sizzle in the glass. Smelled of, this is a guess, cherry wine vinegar? It’s taste was putrid. The hardest thing was pouring it down the drain when paying premium price for it. I hope that this is not normal for the beer, because I do not know who the hell would drink this swill. It is total garbage, do not waste your money on it. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Mar 19, 2005 Corked bottle
Dark ruby, small mostly vanishing brown head. Big floating yeast particles. Red current juice, malt in the aroma. Fruity, quite light bodied. Plum, sugar and earthy woody flavors. Hint of cherry sweetness in the finish. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Mar 5, 2005 Bottle, perhaps dated from 2001, the cork numbers are kind of funny looking. Brown in color. No head and no lacing. Tart grapey aromas with an equally tart flavor. Very puckering. Slight hints of sugar peek through here and there. Drying. A little thin on the palate. Pleasant. maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Mar 5, 2005 Bottled. A deep red coloured beer with a brown hue. The aroma is sour fruity raspberry with a woody dampness. The taste has dry sour and old raspberry fruit notes. It is oaky in character and drinkable although it lacks real depth. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Mar 4, 2005 lovely refreshingly tart and sour beer witha delicate fruit palate that begs to be consumed far to rapidly.Dark toffee and marzipan witha touch of pomigranite. highlandlad (1258), Sydney, Australia Feb 23, 2005 Big sour monster. Poured the colour of toffee, with a big rocky head and some lace. The complex aroma is curious, rather than inviting. It has astringent vinegary notes, some nuts and sour fruit. However, the musty odour conjures images of grandparents rotting in old folks homes - and that’s not what I look for in a beer! The palate is full and creamy, with plenty of sour-sweet fruit and a tart, puckering finish. It has an intense wine-like character. The bottom line, however, is I couldn’t get beyond that peculiar aroma. Not my favourite Flemish sour. (Bottle)
