Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

Poured a deep, opaque brown with almost no head and some light bubbles rising. Not much special there. Aroma is interesting... slightly funky, sour dark fruits, followed by nice grapefruit twist at the end. First taste is brash like a watered down sour cider vinegar. Once my tongue adjusted, the vinegary taste mellows to a rich sour, lightly salted, with a little sweetness. Mouthfeel is light, no carbonation present at all, finish comes through bitter and puckering. Overall, a pretty nice beer and I don’t usually like sours. The Brown hiding behind this sour is really present though. It’s a nice mix.

33cl fles, blended in 2015. Donker bruin bier met beige schuimkraag. Geur: zurig, kersen. Smaak: licht zacht zurig, kersen en wat tannine. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Lekker dorstlessend degustatiebier.

So if it comes in a paper bag is it malt liquor? Or because it’s a fancy paper bag it’s something high end? Well it’s Belgian ennyweighs yakno. Let it breathe for a bit, then pour.... This has modest head, grows a bit, and a dark brown body with heavy Lambic carbonation. Grape, fruity esters, graham cracker, furniture varnish on the nose with hints of rhubarb. Flavour is sweet oak with cherries, more rhubarb, faint lambic funk. Good sharp finish. Lots of sweetness but not overly cloying - this is a great balanced beer, good sweetness that n00bs to Belgian styles would like. If I was destitute and homeless I’d pick this beer in a paper bag fo shizzles.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a deep brown with some mahogany highlights. Green apple, cherry and muscat on the nose with a light bit of oak. Nose is very vinous. Above average carbonation with a slightly creamy mouthfeel. Finish has some dates and more cherry, muscat and a hint of oak and vanilla. A Belgian classic, very drinkable and enjoyable sour. Pairs well with food too.

Bottle. Pours deep brown with small head. Aroma is cherry and oak. Taste is dominated by cherry, but oak, malt and some spices is also present. A good one because its not to sour or as some others, just sour.

Sample from bottle @ Sur & Bitter, Sandnes. Pours dark brown, with a brown, rocky head. Aroma is dark fruity notes of raisins and dates, as well as tannins, leather and oak. Full body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is light lactic notes, with fruity notes of cherries, plums, some rum raisins and dates, as well as wood, leather and light farmyardy notes. Sweet, dark fruits in the finish.

Pours dark red with strong off-white foam. Aroma is berry, some old cask, light cherry, currants. Taste is quite sweet, light fruits, cherry, alcohol, light radish, sweet grapes. Not bad at all!
