COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

(cork says 2.006)brown in color with a reddish tint.nice white head that leaves some heavy webbing.aroma is a bit nutty, with some funk and cherries.very nice flavor of wheat, tartness, cherries, caramel malts, and grapes.this is proof that a beer can be sour without being obnoxious.

Pours a cloudy dark brown with minimal white head and no lacing. Aroma of sour plums, dark fruits, smells very sour. Taste is better than expected, burnt sugar, dark fruits, some acetic notes but not agressive, good balance between sweetness and sour. Medium body and low carbonation. really enjoyable.

Reddish-brown colour+thich, dark-beige head, small subsidences in the liquid. aroma: sour, mushroom, geuze, cognac and some jam-filled cookies. Taste is also sour, champagne- or wine-like, a bit dry-yeasty-sour taste stayes on the tongue.

Head: beige, small, frothy, poor retention. Colour: dark amber-brown and clear with large floating chunks. Aroma: wild yeast, wine, vinegar, bit of dried fruit. Taste: wine acidity balanced by a bit of mild sweetness. The after-taste is astringent, tannin.

this is a rating of a bottle from 1987, so 26 years after its production datequite a lot of light beige head that disappears quickly. dark red-brown beer. sweet smell but not many aromas. sweet taste and sweet aftertaste with some porto, caramel. the sour taste of a fresh goudenband is not there anymore. although an interesting experience, i wouldn’t drink it again. 75 cl @ kulminator / notes from backlog

ClubGonzo (2692) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAY 2, 2013
Bottle from Beer Planet, Brussels. Deep brown body with a medium creamy off-white head. Nose is dark fruits, prunes, dades and sour lactic tones with hints of licorice and grainy malts in the back. Taste is sour-ish wooden dark fruit tones, dry dades and hints of balsamic notes and brown sugar. Both sour and sweet at the same time. Medium body, high carbonation. A classic beer and pretty drinkable, but not quite "my style" enough to get really high scores I’m afraid.

R2k2 (93) - NETHERLANDS - APR 28, 2013
Red-brown colored beer, full of sherry-like aroma, with a bit of herbs. It’s a sour beer like a cherry lambiek. The aftertaste is also sour, but also with a herb-like touch. Roodbruin kleurig bier. Vol aroma dat veel weg heeft van sherry. Op de achtergrond kruidig. Het smaakt zurig als een kersen-lambiek. De nasmaak is eveneens zurig, maar met een kruidige toets.

Dark amber with minimal head and lace. Sour apple aromas, with cherries, oak and vanilla. Sour taste dominates, some yeast and earthiness. Medium body, sticky mouthfeel, and the sourness lingers.
