Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

375ml bottle at home. Hazy dark amber brown with a full off-white soapy head with low retention. Medium to full body with moderate carbonation. Nice sour and sweet tones. Tart, wood, vanilla, hay, citrus and spices. Quite a nice sour brew.

bottle poured in Duchess de Bourgogne glass. Pours a wonderful garnet colour with a bubbly beige head which lasts a short while. Aroma is wonderful oak, vanilla and tartness. Taste is all these things but more - coffee, vanilla, oak and leather giving was to a perfectly blended redcurrant acidity. This is the most complex beer I have tried. I was sceptical of trying this as usually labels that proclaim such triumphs rarely meet my expectations. This doesn’t either - it far surpasses them and I am now a fan for life.

A ridiculously drinkable beer for 8%. It went down way too easy. WAY too easy! Poured a nice brown color...almost milk chocolate with a tight finger thick tan head. The aroma was wonderfully complex...slightly sour, with roasted notes, fruity notes, spiciness, and a smidge of hops. The mouthfeel is just about perfect, and the beer is smooth as hell. the flavor is again wonderfully complex...tart cherry and dark fruit sweetness, yeast, and roasted malt. Very well balanced. One of the better sours I’ve ever had. First one on tap, though, so maybe that’s cheating... 2011-not quite as awesome in the bottle, but still pretty dang good. 2012/13 - just doesn’t have the pop it originally had. gotta doc a tenth."

330ml bottle served in a Tulip glass. 2011 printed in the cork. A: Pours a dark amber to brown forming a big bubbled and aired beige head. A lot of light brown flakes can be seen in the bottom of the glass. Good retention with many laces lingering in the glass S: Great in the nose. Tart and fruity with delicious notes of gapes, oak, vinegar, red wine, earthy yeasts. A bit metallic. Alcohol absolutely hidden by the tastiness T: Follows the nose. A slightly sweet upfront with strong notes of grapes and oak. Quite close to an acid red wine or vinegar. In overall, a dry and tart beer. Also notes of earthy yeasts and oxidation M: Medium body and good carbonation. Tart and fruit aftertaste with some notes of oxidation O: Excellent beer. I personally like wild ales with higher ABVs. Absolutely drinkable and impressively enjoyable [ BA Review @ 10/7/2012 ]

Aroma of cherries, oak, honey, vanilla. taste of tart cherries, lightly sweetened with honey, fruity yeast esters, slightly sour finish.
