Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

Had no idea what to expect. Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown, with tons of huge sediment floating around. Smallish off-white head. Aroma is great. Lots of cider vinegar, apples, tart cherries, raisins, some malt. Opens up sour/bitter but quickly a soy sauce flavore, but sweeter, comes out. Has a nice medium body, slightly grainy and bubbly. Lots of brown sugar sweetness, with lots of vinegar taste, though not as sharp and acidic. Has a wonderful balance, finishes with a lovely touch of hops and yeast. Lingering bitter sweet flavor. Like a nice gueuze with some agnostura bitters and some cider in it. Manages to be very tart, yet has a big sweet flavor.

375ml bottle (Tuulensuu, Tampere)
(7-4-8-4-15=3.8)
Orangy or reddy brown, small white head. Fresh and woody, maybe dusty or smokey in part. Rich malty taste, some cherry too. Very rich brown malt - not too sour at all - I’d personally prefer a little less sugar and more sour. Mellow and very well balanced - a classic.

Sweet woody vanilla and sour aroma. Sour palate too - sourer than normal, nice! Browner and thicker. Slightly phenolic. Decent hops too.

Bottle picked up at Londis, Goring, Oxon, had this 27-01-08 Poured conker brown with quite a bit of yeast in suspension the head was off-white. The aroma was sweet molassess and some sourness. Tasted great sourness again with an underlying dark brown unrefined sugary sweetness, there was an oakiness to this as well and very fruity. Great beer

(37.5 cl Bottle) Beautifully wrapped Flemish Sour Ale. Pours a thin, quick dissipating, white head and a brown-reddish body. Strong, sour white wine scent with slight cranberries. Taste of sour grapes and a hint of apples in finish. Very dry. Delicious and complex nature to this beer.

Bottled. Sampled at Byns Bistro, Göteborg. Dark brown. Sweetish nose, notes of spices, licorice and a bit yeasty. Flavour is a little milky acidic with notes of melon, licorice and pepper. Body is medium. Easy drinking here.

750 ml green bottle poured a clear brown with a lingering tan head. Aromas of cherry, vinous notes, light cocoa and yeast. Palate was light bodied crisp and lightly tart. Flavors of berry, vinousnesslight cocoa notes and a hint of cork with a crisp lightly tart vinous finish.
A very tasty Flemish brown perhaps better than Duchesse.
