Flavor is of apples, vinegar with a nice sour feel in the middle. Finishes up dry and hoppy with some of the sourness lingering. Quite good. beerking99 (199), USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2006 Paper wrapped corked and caged 375 mL bottle. The corks sure are weird. Really short depth in the bottle. Thanks HogTownHarry for this 2005 vintage. The beer pours to a nice garnet colored body with a lasting tall beige head. The aroma is sour woodsy cherry yogurt with cinnamon. The flavor is also a sour cherry yogurt. It also has notes of a tawny port wine in both the aroma and the flavor. The flavor has a huge oaken profile. Very easy to drink, not exactly "sour" by any means, unfortunately. The palate is smooth, yogurty. I wouldn’t exactly call it a Flemish Sour, but there really isn’t another category for it. A good and distinct beer, nonetheless. bask (305), Leuven, Belgium

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 31, 2009 I bought this because I’ve been digging sours and I hear liefmans won’t be around America much longer. The cork had 2006 on it so I guess this has been sitting awhile. Nice, dark brown color with aromas of alcohol and big malts. A little bit of dark funk going on in the smell as well as vinegar. The aroma really improves as the beer warms to room temp (as most do). Whoa, the taste is funky, sour, strong, cereal, heavy cereal maltiness, vinegar again and glue, sour apples, tart in the back. This is sour in a puckery way but much different than the La Roja I had just prior. This is quite potent and much more of a sipper. Overall not my favorite but I’m not that literate when it comes to oud bruins.
