Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

Extremelly vinous character, almost vinegar like flaovr. Poured a nice brown with a fizzy light head. Aroma was infinately complex with raisins, cherry, wood , resin. Flavor was intense with a strong fruit tartness to it. Has a distince "celler" like character ti it. A very pleasant offering.

(Bottle, 0.375 l - cork had marking 2007, at Janoinen Lohi) Poured deep red and lightly hazy with very small, quick and white head. Aroma contained sweetness, tartness and raisin. Palate was medium bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, sourness, plum, berries, tartness, molasses and lightly bitterness. Aftertaste contained sour and berries.

Dark reddish brown with a big pale beige head that settles slowly and leaves a nicely looking lid of foam. Distinct aromas of overripe fruit (apples), some sweet candy-like aromas, raisins, light phenols, a faint note of funky barn, wood and tart vinegar. A pleasant smell full of character. A fantastic taste, just really really good. A great blend of sweetness and tartness develops in the mouth with the sweetness taking just the slightest of leads. Notes of cherries, apples, plums and some raisins. A faint note of sweet candy. Some vinegar, wet wood and a note of daring yet subtle yeast. The finish is gently bitter with a rich tartness mixed with some phenols, minerals and raisins. This is just a very tasty brew. Medium body, well balanced carbonation. Slightly chewy and sticky in the mouth with a somewhat dry finish. I really like Goudenband, nothing but a classic. It’s just unbelievably tasty. Very easy to drink as well and I can easily drink a 750 ml bottle of this stuff by myself. Serving type: bottle (Copy of old Beer Advocate review)

Bottle from Ohtsuki. Dark brown with just a bit of orange and just a ring of bubbles around the side of the glass. Aroma of sour cherries, lemon, vinegar, wood, Very Sweet and laso quite sour flavor. Yogurt, nuts, cherries, brandy. Very complex, though not perfectly integrated. Very tasty and enjoyable, but not nearly as interesting as I had hoped.

Bottle, 37,5 cl. A brown ale, with a slight reddish shine on it and a very small, fast disappearing head. Aroma is great: sourness and malty sweetness comes straight into your nose. Some fruitiness is included. The tastge is as great as the smell: you have a medium bodied beer with the sour taste and the malty sweet taste and the fruits, all together very well balanced, very easy drinking beer with a nice mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pours a lovely deep mahongany. Small tan head that disappears pretty quickly. Not much in the way of lacing. Aroma shows plenty of sournness. Plenty balsamic vinegar, red wine / port and sour cherries. Also seems to be some cork or perhaps oak near the finish. Flavours initially show some malt sweetness. A little fresh apple and some dark fruits. Plenty of vinegar sourness on the finish. Extremely well balance and a wonderful beer.
