Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

Appearance: browns with deep garnet highlights along the edges. A tan head fades into a creamy layer with scattered bubbles along the edges. Swirls creamy and thick.
Nose: sour with sweetness along the edges. Soured burgundy wines and old leathered wine sacs. Musk – browned apples and pears with a touch of funk. Plums and grapes with skins and seeds for tart, tannic, sweet, and nutty. Whispers of brown sugar covered dates.
Palate: tartness skirts along the edges then slams the middle of my tongue, never letting go. Leathery and creamy and supple with red wine tannins and whole wheat breads. Grape and plum and more leather. Funk in the breath with horse and orchard musk. Old earth in the back. Brown sugar and dates comingle in the middle. Black breads.
Final Thoughts: at first a bit unassuming, but with each subsequent quaff, layer after layer of flavorful personality unraveled for my eager tastebuds to enjoy. Between the Cuvee Brut and Goudenband…I can’t pick a winner. Instead, I’ll pick both so that depending on my state of mind, I can have one or the other and come out a winner on both counts. Delicious!

Super dark almost black pour from draft at rocking horse. Sticky off white head. Cherry front and back for taste. Super smooth, not sour, like a sweet fruit juice. Very easy to drink. Good

Copper-brown colour with light ruby red reflections, fine light tan fading head with good lacings. Aromas of unripe plums, cherries, wood, earthyness and light notes of balsamico vinegar and malts develop. Soft rescence/effervescence with a light texture and medium body. Sweet flavours at first developping a fine acidity and tartness. Medium lasting finish. Complex and harmonic!

Poured into a teku glass showing very little latte foam that builds around the edges and a light translucent coffee brown. The nose shows hints of caramel and brett but the dominant aroma is mostly the sweet malt flavors you usually pick up from a Belgian blonde or brettier beer (think Orval). The palate is full bodied with a distinct Belgian/Trappist-like hint of sweetness (it’s still dry) and very tart plum-like sourness. Light to moderate carbonation. Flavors akin to dried fruit (e.g. prunes, cherries). A little too tart for my tastes but the dried fruit flavors make it interesting.

Dark brown color with a minimal light beige head with short duration. Aroma has vinous notes, barrel and ripe red fruits. Flavor is sourish, notes of tartiness and red wine with barrel hints, some cherries and burnt sugar. Sourish final with a great complexity and a light sweetness with ripe fruity notes.

Nose of big sourish berries, some burnt malt, wood, and a touch of funk. Dark brown color, small tan head, which diminishes quickly. Light acidic initial, sweet ripe berries, thin cheesy notes, brown sugar. Thin-medium body, gentle carbonation, light astringency. Unexpectedly good and complex.

Deep brown body. Tan head. Fig/cherry/plum/earthy aromas/ some raspberry. Medium sour presence. Finishes like a dubbel as the dark fruit and earthy character of the beer overpowers the palate. unique.
