3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a wine glass. The beer pours a deep dark brown, with a low light tan head. The nose shows tart characters, along with deep and rich malty character; betraying the beer’s origins as a blended brew. Sour brett notes mixed with caramel and toffee. The palate shows a beautiful complexity; pleasant raison malt character malt and slight ester notes up front, followed by an assertive sour note. The finish leaves a very pleasant dry and sour note. Overall, a splendid oud bruin, showing the best qualities of lambic, along with that of a residually sweet Belgian ale.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. BB 09/2024. Chestnut brown with a small light beige head retaining as a thin scattered layer. On the nose it’s sour fruits, cherries, vinegar, wood, berries. Sweetish taste at first, but the tart layer covers everything in a matter of moments. Almonds. Sour apples. I like this sweet and sour ping pong. Crisp thin carbonation. Very acidic. Medium body. Woody dry mouthfeel, but tolerable at that. Alcohol doesn’t show, which makes it surprisingly easy to drink despite the acidity and dryness. The finishing feeling in the roof and back of the mouth remind me of my favorite berries, whitecurrants. It’s lovely.

Although this is not my fauvorite beer style, i was really surprised for such a good beer. Red wine and vinegar are the predominant tastes. An excellent beer for people who are trying to introduce themselves in lambic related flavours

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
0,375 l paper-wrapped and corked bottle from drankgigant, 2014 vintage. Clear, dark brownish red with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Funky, sourish-fruity aroma of bitter almond, vinegar, raisins, ripe cherries, blackcurrant, red wine and wood. Funky, sourish-fruity taste of red wine, bitter almond, vinegar, ripe cherries, blackcurrant, raisins and wood. The acidity increases and develops into a medium sour finish with strong vinous notes and lots of oak. Thin to medium body, spritzy and slightly astringent mouthfeel, almost flat. Great complex brew, living up to my high expectations. The level of acidity is just so high that it adds to its refreshing character, but doesn’t overshadow the numerous, subtle flavours. Unique!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
375ml bottle. Very dark brown color. Small size, tan head, stays. Sour, vinegar, grapes, alcohol and faint raisins in aroma. Sour, fruity, berries, woody, red wine in taste. Sharp, but then again mellow mouthfeel. Red wine in aftertaste. Surprisingly drinkable for me.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a dark brown color, with a big, bubbly head.
The aromas got a present, funk infused, toffee malt foundation to them, together with a gentle amount of wood and earth. While the beer does not tend to be overly sour, it provides a well pronounced malt character, showcasing a fermented red fruit quality among old oak. Its got a unique bakers chocolate layer, also featuring peppery spices, hinting into a sweeter direction.
Has a supersoft mouthfeel, due to yeast and lower carbonation, featuring a pleasantly sour, medium bodied beer.
Tastes of toffeeish, wine barrel soaked bready malts, with a good amount of funk to them. Red wine graped turn very profound, as the beer turns sweeter with rock sugar and bakers chocolate, balanced by a lemon rind infused funky tartness. Provides an almost harsh peak, when sour and sweet flavors collide on the palate, resulting in a marzipan earthiness, accompanied by dried berries and vinegar. Finishes with a boozy, vinuous glimpse, immediately wrapped up by slick, sweeter malts, earth and dried lemon peel, providing a decent dryness.
Very versatile beer, changing its flavor direction many times, appearing untamed on the tongue. Every time when the brew heads into an unconventional taste direction (bakers chocolate) for this style, it never crosses the line, but finds its balance within a new flavour, resulting from the so far established taste.
