Infinitely complex in aroma and flavor with notes of maltiness and tartness throughout. An unsurpassed old brown with the richness and complexity of a vintage wine.

Enjoyed from a 750ml bottle in a wine glass. The beer pours a deep dark brown, with a low light tan head. The nose shows tart characters, along with deep and rich malty character; betraying the beer’s origins as a blended brew. Sour brett notes mixed with caramel and toffee. The palate shows a beautiful complexity; pleasant raison malt character malt and slight ester notes up front, followed by an assertive sour note. The finish leaves a very pleasant dry and sour note. Overall, a splendid oud bruin, showing the best qualities of lambic, along with that of a residually sweet Belgian ale.

26.9.2014. Appearance is like cola. Sour aroma has berries and cherries. Taste is soursweet, cherries, plums, some notes like wine, some like homemade juice.

Dark Brown sparkling beer with a light brown head. On the label it says brown ale, but I must say that was not what i will define as a brown ale. But i’ll go with Ratebeer.com’s chosing of style: Sour. Red ale When i first tasted the beer it was sour and sweet at the same time, with a bit of fruitty flavors including cherry and apple. All in all a funny beer that has the sparks of a soda the look of a beer and the taste of a port wine

On tap at Bangers Austin. Aromas of licorice, caramel, toast, citrus, basement aromas, leather, raisin, vanilla. Totally flat. Flavors of caramel, bread, toast, citrus, raisin, licorice and plum. Medium dry finish. I had much better versions.

Liefmans Goudenband uitgeschonken in tulp bierglas.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a moderate light tan head on there. Nose has sour caramel and is darkly fruity as well. Taste is sour throughout, but has some sweetness that pervades subtly. Interesting.

Whew! Pours deep brown / purple. Aroma is sour grape and tart. Taste follows suite. The Finish will make you pucker up and say Ah.

Bottle at home. Dark brown with small light beige head. Grapes, sour berries, red wine, nuts, musty cellar, old bread. Starts weirdly dry, going fast into a medium sourness and ends with a light sweetness with underlying herbal light bitterness. Medium bodied. Nice stuff, quite unusual but I like it.

Robe rouge, mousse quasi absente.
