3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 fiulijn (10000) - Como, ITALY - JUL 14, 2004
Dark amber to brown color; poor head. Refreshing Oud Bruin, balanced and with some sweetness to balance the (low) sourness, but not exceptional.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Nate (3026) - Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 27, 2004
Sweet woody aroma, caramel malt, tart fruit tannins, smoooth. Deep burgundy blood red clear (before sediment pour) with light tan thin lacing head. Medium-heavy watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with bit of tartness, like fruit skins, but also very earthy, with hints of mushrooms and musty dirt. Finish remains tart, though watery, with some hops coming in. Not bitter, just earthy. After is clean, with some musky undertones. A very interesting mix of flavors and aromas. Adding the dregs gives some more fruity tart character, and some Belgian yeast aroma. Increases bitterness in finish and after, but not detrimentally. Either way, it’s a good sour ale.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 rauchbier (3135) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - APR 25, 2004
Bottle, Oud Arsenaal Antwerp. Deep red brown, thin cream coloured head and moderate condition. Aroma is initially thin and vinegary with some caramel developing. Fruit and caramel in the mouth with a gentle metallic tartness, and a dry tinny finish.

Bottled: Brown reddish coloured. Off white head. Has a fresh sour aroma balanced by a slightly sweetness. Flavour is somewhat woody but again there is a nice balanced sour/sweetness. Has a fresh and cleansing aftertaste. Good one. Thanks Jacob and Martin for sharing.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 jerohen (1775) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - NOV 19, 2003
Fantastic appearance, cloudy dark brown coloured, beautiful lacing with these very fine bubbles like guinness. Fruity, woody, dusty and bit yeasty aroma, sour and fruity flavour. Not as complex as the Goudenband, but certainly a good brew.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 skortila (4035) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - NOV 8, 2003
Aroma is a bit fruity, oaks, promising. The beer is clear, but very dark red coloured with a thin head. Fruity and winey fresh taste. Bit wood/dusty/sour palate. Very typical flemish sour ale. However lacking some complexness.
