Dark brown with a red tint and a thick lasting tan frothy head. Smells of vinigar, malt, berry, caramel and dry oak. Medium oily frothy body. Sourness lingers. Starts sweet with vinigar, kiwi, very ripe fruit, plum. More sweet than sour, wood and sour cherry. Very good and complex but sour.

Poured from bottle, pours a murky brown with a thin head, the aroma has some sour and funk with a little bit of wood as well, the flavor has a slight vinegar front end with some fruit in the finish, really not overly sour at all, not terrible.

Dark brown with a white head. Nose is fruity and malty. Flavour of this oud bruin is sweet and fruity with nice sourness and a little woody character. Well carbonized, light bodied. Sour cherries on palate. B@H

LIVE RATE FROM T’KEIZERSHOF IN SCENIC BRUGGE BELGIUM!!! Pours a deep reddish brown/ cola color. The head starts big and off white, but dissipates to a small head and chills out that way for a while. The aroma is vinous, sweet, musty, and malty. The flavor is nicer, it’s easily the most sour Liefmans product I’ve tried yet. Although it is also a tad too sweet. Some malty chocolate notes lurk in the background along with some tart cherries. Basically though this is a 2 note sweet and sour beer, I know that there was a time I would have gone gaga over a beer like this one, and I still like it... But I’d love it to be much drier.

330ml bottle. Pours a dark brown, with a beige head. Fruity aroma, candied sugar, caramel, quite sour, dark fruits, toffee, tobacco, licorice. Off-dry, medium bodied, low bitterness, balanced CO2. Fruity, sour taste, dark berries, chocolate, caramel, malt, wood (!). (2012-04-10)

Draft. At Town Hall Tap. Dark reddish brown color with a light tan head. Light cherry note in the nose. Light mouthfeel with carbonation. Fruity with caramel notes. Not really sour all that much. Some apple flavors as well. Decent.

Hazy brown beer. Dry crisp palate. Fruity tangy beer with a splash of coca cola. Somewhat let down by a finish that manages to be both dry and wishy washy!

Reviewed mid July 2010, on one of my random beer nights. 25cl bottle poured into a ’Forbidden Fruit’ chalice. The body was a deep, ruby red/brown colour. A tan/off white collar sat around the glass, what head did appear left within 10 seconds of the pour. The smell was a mix of old sour notes and a red berry sweetness. The taste followed on from the aroma, Cherry and Raspberry flavours to me, with more sourness than the smell. Certainly tart, but not a cheek sucking in special like some Belgian beers I could mention. I thought it on the fizzy side, which I believe is not normal in this style, but it added a new dimension to the tasting, which I enjoyed.

On draft at the Brass Tap Sour Breakfast, poured a dark brown color, aromas of vinegar, oak, some lemony fruit, caramel, and a touch of funk. Flavors are the same but a slight cherry thrown in the mix, not as sour as expected from the aroma.
