slight tartness, with the sweetness of the malts. hints of cherries, molasses, and the tartness, makes this extremely drinkable.

(Draught at Flying Saucer Fort Worth) clear tea colored with few tan bubbles. Nose of tobacco, figs, dates, and brown sugar. Taste of brown sugar, dates, raisins, sweet tea, plum, complex and quite refreshing. A great linger with medium carbonation. Loved this one!

9/24/11. On tap. Almost clear red pour with a frothy white head that fades. Sweet malty aroma with a touch of vinegar and sweet cherries. Sweet cherry flavor, not much tartness, with a bit of caramel and metal. Meh.

It’s easy to overestimate what you’re going to get with this beer; yes, it’s a sour ale, but look at the description: lightly acidic. The bottle is not a font of tartness. The main flavors are very Belgian and Brown in the European sense of the style, with caramel/fig malts and a spicy yeast undertone. The finish grows a touch of a vinegar-laced sour streak, but this sourness doesn’t do much other than bring out a modest green apple finish. Too much fruit, and too sweet for its "lightly acidic" soul.

(draft @ Tap and Mallet - Rochester, NY) Dark murky brown pour with a very thin tan head. Sweet and slightly earthy tart aroma. Some very mild funk and damp notes. Flavor starts off sweet and fruity with a very light tart undertone. A little sweeter than I thought it’d be for a Flemish brown, but the acidic notes are there. Subtle yet tasty.

Schöne dunkelbraune Farbe; leicht bräunlicher Schaum. Die Optik ist des Namens würdig.
Geruch fruchtig und säuerlich. Gleiche Tendenzen beim Geschmack: Lambicartige Töne mit einer spürbaren Trockenheit im Nachhall.
Geschmacklich ein interessantes Bier. Im Körper vielleicht etwas wässrig. Hätte etwas voller ausfallen können.Test vom 23.2.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Pours a nice Dark brown, with a very effervescent head. Candy, strawberry, crab apple aroma. Taste has an almost balanced sweet and sour, with sour coming out on top a bit. Getting grape, hay, juicy tart apple (cortland?). A light to medium body, with the carbonation fine but also very efferfescent. Fairly dry finish. Not bad at all.
