3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from 8.5 oz. bottle into a chalice glass
Appearance –The beer pours a deep ruby red color with a one finger head of red tinted foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading to leave a good level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big and fruity of red beery fruits with tons of raspberry and strawberry, but also contain good hints of cranberry and current. A little bit of a blueberry and some lighter plum are there as well giving it a very sweet fruity smell overall.
Taste – The taste begins a little less sweet then would have been anticipated from the nose, but still overall it was rather sweet. A big red berry fruit flavor of strawberry, raspberry and cranberry greet the tongue along with some blueberry flavors. These flavors create a base for the brew and last till the end. Along with the berry fruits comes some light doughy sweet malt and some cherry which end up leaving a very sweet, and how many people have aptly described it, Kool-Aid (but I must say adult/gourmet Kool-Aid) flavor, that I must say is not super overly sweet for the style, to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is quite light with a carbonation level that is rather average to slightly higher. Both the light body and higher carbonation are fantastic for the fruit flavors of the brew and create a very crisp and easy drinking brew overall.
Overall – Well I paid $5 for a 4 pack of 8.5 oz. bottles that had an expiration date of 10/14. I would say I won big time on that buy. While not the greatest fruit style brew out there, for $1.25 a bottle this was a fantastic buy overall and makes for a good fruit beer when looking for something light and fruity.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a wine red color, slightly hazy, topped with a small pink head. There is an extremelly pleasant fruity aroma, berries, most dominant being raspberries. The taste is sweet and soury, slightly cider like, but very pleasant.

Liefmans fruitese on the rocks served from draft at Taste of Belgium in Cincinnati. Who knew Belgians could brew bad beer? Well, apparently they can but it is rare. When it does happen, they ship it to America and tell them to serve it over ice.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
UPDATED: AUG 22, 2014 Tasted as Liefmans Fruitesse On The Rocks, and following the brewer’s instructions, I pour it into an ice cold glass with ice cubes. I’ve had thousands of beers so far but this is a first for me. Thick but quickly collapsing, bright pink, stable head, colour a bright and fiery grenadine red, clear and transparent. Strongly sweet aroma of fruit lemonade, grenadine, red candy, grandma’s elderberry syrup, strawberry ice cream and the kind of old-fashioned medicinal candy once used to treat a cold; barley and wheat are somewhere in there, but very, very far away. I hesitate to even take a sip of this but when I do, the artificial candy-fruit sweetness is there in all its glory, like the old-fashioned grenadine diluted with mineral water I used to enjoy as a child, medicinal elderberry syrup, lots of sugar and a sourish accent more reminiscent of lemonade than wheat. The thinnish mouthfeel suffers even more from the melting ice cubes and only far away in the finish, a faint hint of hop bitterishness appears, only to disappear again as quickly as it came. I admit this is a refreshing beverage on a hot day, but the relationship with actual beer? Sure this is a good cure against a persistent cough, though. That being said, I’ve had far worse in this particular style and adding ice cubes makes it quite enjoyable if you are not looking for real beer. Perhaps I should add ice cubes to all these fruit-witbiers from now on.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Deep red color, pink head. Sweet berries nose, dominated by strawberries, artificial aromas, hint of marzipan. Sweet cherry taste, cherry pits, raspberry, slightly tart finish. Medium body, lively carbonation, sticky. Too sweet for my taste.
