Not a whole lot going on in the aroma. Smell is very malty with a hint of nuttiness. Taste is on the sweeter side but has a nuttiness to it as well. I typically prefer a more roasty brown ale than this one. Overall, just okay, can’t see myself drinking this one again.

Nice brown ale. Used tons of this to cook with! It has great brown flavors and aromatics! This is an easy drinking loveable beer!

Bottle. Nutty roasted malt aroma. Dark reddish brown aroma. Thin tan head. Dry and nutty flavor. Faint hop. Enjoyable if not overly remarkable.

Smooth body and unfortunately a little thin. Interesting flavors of cherry, grape, blackberry, along with tobacco leaf and some of that nuttiness. Light spice hints, too. Not bad. (on tap at Groveland Tap, St. Paul)

Tap at brewery. Pours brown with a nutty aroma. Flavor is a smooth.creamy brown with nice nut flavor. Very good.

Pours a dark, coppery-brown, with small head. Strong aroma of nuts and malt. Flavor is very nutty--the hazelnuts are especially apparent. There’s a smooth, sweet underlying maltiness and a rather bitter finish. Quite good.

Aroma and taste with a nice earthy, nutty bitterness. No date on bottle, overall taste was pretty simple, with a bit of a metallic/alcohol taste on the way down.

12 oz bottle rec’d in trade from emienz. nice dark brown pour. aroma of malts and nuts and caramel; maybe even brown sugar? Taste very similar this is good stuff; 2nd strong brown in week of browns at my hours!! really liked this brew

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, reddish brown pour with nice off white head, aroma has notes of chestnuts, nuts, hints of roasted malts, touch of caramel, biscuit, slight earthy notes, slight hint of yeast as well in there, amazing how nutty this is. Taste is nice roasted nuts with hazel, almonds and some pecan in there, touch of caramel, biscuit, some yeast, but the nuts take over, this is pretty amazing how nutty this is. Glad I finally tried the regular version.
