Enjoyed at an all barley wine tasting at Travis’s house on February 21. 750 mL bottle. The pour is a coppery color with a medium khaki head and a couple spots of lace that stick around. The aroma is strongly spicy and slightly metallic. There is a lot of rye spice with a pretty strong pepper that I’m not really feeling. It carries the normal caramel, vanilla, oak, and a decent bourbon to go along with it, but the metallic and the pepperiness is such a turn off. The flavor has the dark sugars, dark fruits, caramel, bourbon, and a bit of syrup. The spiciness isn’t good. The mouth feel is thin and light. The carbonation is light ans almost makes it come off watery. The aftertaste is lingeringly spicy and malty

Bottle shared. Pours clear amber brown with a ring off white head. Aroma has unexpected floral notes upfront, with soap, vanilla, overripe fruits, oak, fairly light bourbon, caramel and toffee. Flavour is heavy sweet with the bourbon coming out stronger in the palate. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bomber courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Clear amber pour. Clear amber pour. Some vanilla. Low carbonation. Boozy.

Bottle. A murky amber color with a tan head. A very sweet, caramel, dark fruit aroma that carries through into the body. It seemed heavy and too sweet without enough of a bitter edge, or dark fruit edge, to keep it in balance.

Bottle at James’ for the multi-K tasting. Pours a clear amber brown with a thin white head. Big booze and malt with a heaping spoonful of cardamom. Medium bodied, sweet with a bit more spice. Smooth vanilla and sweet caramel. Too sweet for me.

Murky brown with an off white head. Aroma of oak, honey, vanilla, cardamom, some soft dark fruits, fig. Taste is similar, with less emphasis on the barrel, but still present. A tasty treat, will be great for the holidays.

This is so good. Pours a dark honey color. Aromas are honey and figs. Vanilla and caramel. Damn. There’s something in this that makes my cheeks pucker... And I like it. Honey, vanilla, bourbon. Everything good in life in a bottle. Thanks Adam aka maltser85 for another masterpiece.

Bottle. Pours amber with an off white head. Malty sweet and fruity, light toasted malts, light earthy and toffee notes, and a quick balanced finish. Good stuff.

Bottle at the 11K/7K/5K. Aroma is praline, molasses, bourbon, and oak. Pours barleywine sepia with no real head. Taste is bourbon, cardamom, brown sugar, and oak. A little overwhelming for the senses and not in a friendly way. Just a bit too much spice fighting with booze. This was worth drinking 3oz. and then moving on.
