Tap @ Northbound. Pours a bit hazy, golden orange appearance with an off white head. Kind of resiny, lightly piney, somewhat bitter hoppy aroma. A bit chewy, grapefruity, bitter piney hoppy, mild citrusy flavor. Pretty decent.

Tap. Man, I’m reading the ratings of my Minnesota brethren below and I’m wondering if I’m crazy, but I’m a pretty big fan of this beer. Awesome citrus and pine resin nose with caramel malt. Medium palate. Taste is sweet citrus hops, a touch of pine, and bready caramel malts. Delicious.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled during the Minnesota Autumn Brew Review 2011. Pours a clear copper amber colored brew with an average sized off-white head that slowly dissipates. Aroma of orange zest and floral hops, a hint of caramel malt and light pineapple. Taste is medium bodied, mild bitterness with flavors of various citrus and floral hops that hides most of the caramel malt. Finish is mildly bitter that slowly disappears.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle. Hazy unfiltered orange-tan body. Foamy off-white head. Strikes me as a classic American IPA..big bold NW hops tones, rich body, crystal malt tones. Orange, grapefruit, mango..lots of hop depth. Solid offering.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: FEB 17, 2013 You’ve had this beer before even if you haven’t had it before. Ignore the claims of uniqueness. So simple and straight-forward, I didn’t get any sense of the high abv, but I suppose that’s to its credit. Still, not a particularly enjoyable beer. (On tap at the Happy Gnome, St. Paul) 7-3-6-3-11 // re-rate in Feb. 2013 marking it down to a 2.8 total. Berry aroma and a pretty awful vegetal flavor. Astringent.
