COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This IPA pushes the boundaries (BJCP American IPA top-7.5% ABV/70 IBU) and delivers what you would expect. This aggressively hoped IPA awakens the senses with aromas of citrus, fruit, and pine but will bombard your taste buds (with hops, a subtle malt sweetness and notes of caramel) that will put a smile on your face. Available for a limited time on draft.

Formerly known as Hop Prop IPA.

Picked up a six pack from Hops & Vines. Pours clear copper amber colored out of a twelve once bottle into a glass with an average sized dirty-white head that slowly dissipates. Aromas of zesty orange and floral hops, a hint of caramel malt and light pineapple and another tropical note I canít quite put my finger on. Taste is medium bodied, mild bitterness with flavors of various citrus and floral hops that hides most of the caramel malt. Over all I enjoyed this IPA even though the taste doesnít linger in your mouth as long as most IPAís do that I enjoy more.

Pours a light amber color with a medium white head. Strong piney and resinous aroma. Taste leads with an almost skunked bitterness before the malt kicks in to save things. Once you get past the initial too-strong bitterness thereís a good APA flavor underneath. Iím more than OK with a big, hoppy IPA, but this doesnít quite pull it off. Overall itís good, but not great.

Bottle poured a hazy orange amber with a lingering ring of ivory foam. Aromas of bread, candied orange, pink grapefruit and tangerine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, tangerine and orange zest with a smooth dry lightly bitter lingering tangerine finish.

Bottle from Four Firkins. Pours an amber orange with a bit of a white head. Some streaky lacing. Aroma has heavy pine, citrus and caramel. Taste is of pineapple, grapefruit, sprucey pine, and chewy resin with a solid caramel malt backbone. Quite bitter and tart, with that solid underlayer of sweetness. Medium bodied with a touch of alcohol. Finishes more bitter than sweet, but with some presence of both. This was enjoyable in a bitter not-super-fruity way. 13.9

Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Slightly hazy copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to a film. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of piney hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with a flavors of resiny hops, citrus and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle from Zippís Liquors. Generous citrusy hopping in aroma, some caramel candy. Red/copper color. Citrus, caramel steps in, some pine, goes to balance, a bit more grapefruit in mid and final, and light bitter tracks. Medium body. Pretty standard IPA. Tasty and all, for sure, but not a lot of depth here.

12oz bottle, purchased from Brennanís in Madison during my stay for GTMW. Pours a mostly hazy darker orange color. Thin off-white head, leaving decent bits of lace. Good bigger piney hop, some orange citrus, resin. Light caramel malt. Moderate to bigger bitter taste. Lighter sweet. Medium plus body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Solid IPA. Day was dragging on a bit, this certainly woke my senses up a little, as advertised.

Bottle - very earthy tasting IPA that has a dirty cloudy dark orange look that usually goes along with this type of IPA. Has a dank aroma, medium body and finish.

Pours a hazy orange. Overall itís clean, crisp, with a slightly lingering grapefruit finish. Just a little too bitter in the finish.
