Road Trip was brewed with Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts with hilarity, dreadful singing and fresh, new-season hops picked by the Lighthouse crew at Cedar Valley Hops Yards one fabulous day on Vancouver Island.

650ml bottle pours a deep amber almost black color with a 2 finger light tan head that leaves no lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate and citrus. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness with a light grapefruit hop bitterness. Medium bodied with decent carbonation. A nicely done brew that is worth checking out.

Marron très foncé, presque noir. L’arôme du malt torréfié avec du chocolat et un peu d’houblon. Le goût et le même. Un peu léger en bouche, mais plein de saveur pour une bière facile à boire.

Bomber. Clear darker red copper, dense foamy off-white head settles and mostly fades. Aroma of chocolate malt, some citrus.Taste is light roast, smooth sweet milk chocolate malt, mild herbal citrus hop, faint evergreen. Softer carbonation, light-medium bodied, lightly hopped. Finishes clean, easy to drink, a tasty quaff. LBW (Lagerboys Be Wary)

Brown pour with tan head. Aroma is creamy toffee, nuts, brown sugar. Flavour is the same with good hop balance. Finish is slightly sweet with some earthy hops. Quite enjoyable.

650mL bottle, pours a transparent dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted nuts, metallic notes, and almost some skunky notes. Flavour brings out toasted nuts, especially hazelnuts, and a sufficient hop backing - only a touch of fresh hop quality, but perhaps I wouldn’t have noticed if the bottle didn’t say. Solid brown ale.

650 ml bottle. Pours a clear mahogany with light head. Aromas of hay, chocolate biscuits, and light fruit. Flavours of sweet malts, rubbery hops, and toast. Quite a bit of carbonation on the tongue. Not much fresh hop presence - maybe a bit in the aftertaste.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2014 650ml bottle. Mahogany/brown with brief beige head. Chocolate, nutty aroma offset by slight doughy taste and chewy, citrusy background. Velvety smooth with minimal bitterness. A nice, balanced brown. My only complaint is that the style doesn’t do much to showcase the fresh hops.
2014 tasting from cask at Stein and Dine: hoppier and seems much tastier this year.

Bomber. Pours clear brown, head doesn’t last. Nose is choc malt and slightly pungent hops, some spice and herb. Toast. Flavour is spice and earth hops, not too strong, nicely balanced with the chocolate malt. Finishes clean. Fresh pungency. I like how they did something different... this is not a "Cascadian Dark", it’s an American Brown with a lifting... uh... spicey earthiness. Not intense, but pungent, and quite pleasant. Incredibly sessionable for a fresh hop beer.

Pours a quick-dissipating, frothy white head atop a deep brown body. Nose is hoppy and toasty. Very smooth and somewhat creamy, very minor hops bitterness yet the malt mixture is delightful and captivating. Some chocolate, roasted malt with minor English-bite. Hard to categorize and define. Very good. 650ml bottle, purchased at Liquor Plus Douglas.
