This hoppy IPA is 80 IBUs and 6.5% alc/vol. Citra, Zythos and Falconer’s Flight hops combine to produce citrus, stone fruit and tropical flavours. The assertive bitterness of these hops is nicely balanced by medium bodied, fresh malt characters. Switchback IPA is a Pacific Northwest style IPA.

Hard pour out of colourful bottle -- can’t tell if this cycling image is cool or cheese -- is deep orange with a classic ipa bumpy cap. Aroma is floral, citrus, & hoppy. Definite west coast ipa profile. Tasty & yet a little one dimensional. Wish I could get a six pack of this (this came in a 6 pack BC sampler to ease us centre of the world types in) even though it doesn’t pack the hop bomb wallop some of their rivals brew.

Golden amber color. Nose is strong citrus hop. Hints of grapefruit. Taste is dominated by the bitter hops with a slight Caramel malt hint. A tasty ipa. True to the west coast style.

355ml bottle. Pours golden amber colour with fluffy head. Citrus aroma, initially bitter then with some malty sweetness. Pleasant bitter aftertaste. Nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

355ml bottle, 6.5% a/v Pours a reasonable gold colour, slightly darker than Canadian, a foamy white head and decent carbonation. Aroma is stone fruits, grass, citrus, and a hint of pear. The taste is quite hoppy with a fruity and citrusy flavour to it, the stone fruit smell and taste addition to this is absolutely brilliant and I need to find out what hops create that! The palate is full and smooth. Overall, this is a tremendous IPA, far more complex and balance than the average West Cost IPA which just punches you in the face with Cascade. Well done Lighthouse!

From the LCBO, in the BC Craft Brewers Guild Natural Selections 6-pack. Pours a clean rich golden with a big frothy off-white head, great retention and lots of foamy lace. Quite a beautiful head. Fresh grassy hops with some grapefruit and pine notes. Nice smooth bitterness with a little dryness. The grain is tasty and does balance out the hops. So, grass and cereal in the finish. A really like this one as not a hopbomb, not a macro IPA, but very well-blended to go down nicely, stay refreshing, but still be a real IPA.

355 ml bottle from a mix of bc beers the lcbo randomly imported. This is the best of the pack. A blonde ipa with a lean malt body and ample hopping. Hells yes.

part of a 6er of beers from BC at the LCBO. Clear copper pour, small white head. light citrus, grass, and some wet paper. seems like all the other beers in this 6er, this beer is quite old. The hops have faded quite a bit, i can see where there was promiss at one point. The bitterness is there, its nice and pithy. Some more citrus notes, with touches of pine in the finish. The hops have gotten quite earthy, but arnt totally unpleasant.

Northwest ipa. Some malt sweetness that is balanced with the hop citrus/bitterness. Pours cloudy gold. Great lacing. Smells of grapefruit, lemon, sweet grass. Nice mellow, velvety, forward, almost bready. Transition into more citrus, hop bitter. The taste builds up to the hops instead of hitting you hard. Very nice ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sample at Picaroon's Brewer's Bash. Grapefruit and pine aroma. Taste is grapefruit hops, a little tropical fruit, malt is sweet and light. Body a little light for an IPA but that keeps with the sparkling sort of feel it has. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy tan head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus and earthy malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where surpassed.
