This hoppy IPA is 80 IBUs and 6.5% alc/vol. Citra, Zythos and Falconer’s Flight hops combine to produce citrus, stone fruit and tropical flavours. The assertive bitterness of these hops is nicely balanced by medium bodied, fresh malt characters. Switchback IPA is a Pacific Northwest style IPA.

A well-balanced NW style IPA. For my taste the ratio of bitter to aromatic to caramel/sweet is excellent for this style of IPA. It may not be the most interesting or unconventional or interesting IPA out there, but it ticks all the right boxes and I keep finding myself buying more of it!

Hold your horses here... Shipwreck is NOT simply Switchback re-named. It is not a Pacific NW style IPA, and lacks the citrus/grapefruit, melon and pine aroma and flavour. It is now labeled as a "modern" style IPA. Not sure why they abandoned Switchback, perhaps because they wanted to do something the other local craft breweries weren’t doing, but I wish they’d "switch back" to Switchback. Shipwreck is a light beer with lots of flat bitterness but no depth, malt or aroma. Sorry, but I would substitute the "p" with a "t".

Drinking from a 355 ml bottle. In the aroma citrus, hop bitterness. The clear golden beer has a medium white head. In the taste citrus and (surprise!) bitterness. Medium carbonated.

Tasted some caramel and grassy notes. Aslo noted some subtle fruit flavour. This is certainly above average

355 ml bottle. Pours a pale, clear gold with a medium, short-lived, white head that laces. Nice citrus hop aroma with pine and some tropical fruit. Sweet fruity flavour of grapefruit and tropical fruit with a dry, bitter, resiny, pine finish. Medium body with a slick texture and average carbonation. Nicely done, I enjoyed this brew.

Aroma is sweet roasty malts, honey, earthiness, clove and lemon grass. Taste is a light crisp maltiness accompanied by a deep earthy and bitter hop profile. Appearance is a clear gold with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.

Cask at the Pump House, Solihull. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is skunky malt, light citrus hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a smooth yeasty, zesty citrus, spicy hop bittter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
