Snojerk321 (943), San Diego, California, USA Dec 9, 2007 On cask @ Stone world Bistro in Escondido. Quite possibly the best porter I’ve ever had! Beer poured a deep black brown with a big frothy light tan head that left great lacing. Nose was big on toffee, chocolate, caramel and nutmeg. Hid the alcohol very well, a great brew! nightrider (227), encinitas, California, USA Feb 8, 2008 On cask at Hamiltons rvealed dark blackness with tan head. Oh yes coffee chocolate with some mild hops. Smooth palate wise. Long good complex finish. Great Porter for sure. badlizard (1430), San Diego, California, USA Dec 11, 2007 On tap at Stone. Dark brown with a brown head. Good sweet chocolate and roasty aroma. Sweet chocolate and fruit taste with a toffee/caramel taste to the finish. decaturstevo (1188), decatur, Tennessee, USA Dec 16, 2007 On tap cask at Stone Brewing SD. Toasted malt on the nose. Jet black with frothy tan head. Very sweet with hints of abv. Excellent lingering bitter finish. At first it had a bit of a graininess on the palate but that went away as I finished the pint. Very smooth full palate an almost creamy beer. Very good beer in my opinion meets all guidelines of the style. CaptainCougar (4625), Rockville, Maryland, USA Apr 15, 2007 On tap at the 10th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Festival: Pours an opaque oily black with a thin ring of tan head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and chocolate malts with some plum complexity. Body starts thick, sweet and viscous with good dark fruity complexity and some toasty caramel toward a sticky sweet, enjoyable finish that hides the alcohol well.
