On-tap at PP C’Bad. Their board said this was an IPA. Anyway, what do I know. Pours hazy, straw yellow with a medium size white head. Smells of faint, citrus hops and light crisp malts. Tastes light citrus hoppy with big light, sweet, slightly caramel malts.Medium body, ok carbonation.

Pitcher with Bartzilla at Hamburger factory. Not a bad Pale Ale. Pretty standard, some nice hop spice, with a good balance between the hops and malt. Extremely easy to drink. A nice summer beer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask @ Pizza Port Real Ale fest 2009. Pours a deep golden orange with a small off white head. Nose was faint herbal hops, a little more like an ESB than a pale. Solid roasted malt backbone. An ok beer from a pretty damn good brewery.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours with a mostly clear, pale golden-peachy hued body with a medium large and lasting, eggshell white head that leaves good lace. Aromas are malty, medium grassy, light sulfur, floral, earthy, very light hint of bubblegum, medium esters, toasted malt, lightly woodsy hops. Flavors are of marmalade, ice tea, lightly bready, crystal malt, medium floral, medium bitter, grassy, earthy, mild citrus. Medium to medium full carbonation. Somewhat dry despite a strong malt character. A little bit of an alcohol character towards the finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Taster at the brewery in Poway. Pours a slightly hazy orange body with a finger-width, off-white head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is grainy and bready with a deeper and crisper hop. A mix of citrus and melons with a touch of honey sweetness. Flavor is similar with a bit of yeast spice to go along with the balanced flavor. Dry finish with a spicy malt aftertaste. Full bodied and smooth. Overall, the brewer said this was supposed to be an English style pale ale, so I didn’t expect it to be over the top. Not bad for the style at all.
