pepsican (765), the beer wastelands of, Iowa, USA May 7, 2008 Thanks to kingG for this bottle. Thanks Joey! hazy gold pour with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet malt and heavy grain. Lots of sweetness in the flavor, some bread, corn, and a bit of alcohol. Grainy finish, good amount of carbonation.
Hophead22 (258), Redlands, California, USA Sep 4, 2008 22oz. bottle. Poured a medium yellow, with a nice white lasting head. Smells slightly lemony, and a little bready. Pretty easy going down, a little bitterness in there as well, not too shabby. biz82 (1325), austin, Texas, USA Aug 23, 2008 Lightly hazy thick golden pour. Sweet and malty aroma with some mellow floral hops. Sweet and alcoholic with flowery hop flavor. Has some bread and yeast notes. Too sweet and alcoholic for my tastes. There was a reason I gave up malt liquor. beerguy101 (3488), Newark, California, USA Aug 22, 2008 This strong lager/malt liquor pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, quickly dissipating with some decent lacing. The aroma is grainy and grassy, kind of sweet with some orange. A medium bodied post-prohibition style lager. The malts are fruity and sweet, with a lot of grass and grain. The hops are earthy and spicy. The 8.3 % alcohol is kind of noticeable. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Not a lot of the typical high gravity beer characteristics, except maybe for the sweetness. It’s a little too sweet for my taste. Mouthfeel is very full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet. bb (2168), Martinez, California, USA Aug 19, 2008 Light golden-amber beer with a whitish head. Grassy, earthy, light malt aroma. Grassy, malt, light earth flavor. Medium bodied. Lingering sweet malt and grass. BrotherGrendel (186), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Aug 12, 2008 On draft at O’Brien’s. Appearance is a clear light orange hue, thin layer of dissipating bubbles, minimal lacing. Smell is sweet bread malts, corn, a touch of darker fruits, grassy hops. Taste is sweet grainy malt with a underlying dark fruit presence, slight bitter grassy hops and lager yeast, finishes dry w/slight alcohol warming. Palate is full-bodied, creamy thick and chewy texture, moderate carbonation. Overall, a moderate, thickly sweet lager that almost feels Belgian-ish, even at 8%abv there is good balance and flavor going on here, very unique style of beer, I was pleasantly surprised!
