COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Thunderweizen is brewed in the style of a traditional German Hefeweizen: lots of wheat, vigorous fermentation, and completely unfiltered for a full, refreshing flavor that perfectly compliments San Diego’s perpetual good weather. Despite the hints of banana, citrus, clove, and other spices, we do not add additives to our beer - that impressive flavor is naturally produced.

Bottle. Strong Brett, yeast, coriander, and wheat malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet orange/banana and wheat malt flavor with moderate Brett finish. Very good - doesn’t have much in the way of typical Weizen aroma or taste but still nice.

On tap @ 7th Ave Pub in Hillcrest. Whole Foods (!). Pours opaque creamy orange with medium head. Aroma is big banana and nice clove notes. Taste is crisp wheat malt with a creamy smooth finish. Big spicy clove, nutmeg, and banana notes throughout. Super refreshing in a warm day.

Drank as a draft while hungover. Very fresh and fruity. There’s plenty of banana in the taste. Looks amazing!

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a weizen glass. Pours cloudy light orange with large deep golden hightlights with huge fluffy head which has staying power. Well carbonated, medium body, and estery aroma. Taste is rich esters, tart, and clove. Really good hefe.

On tap. Nice glowing yellow murky pour with a froth of white foam. Aroma is banana with some clove and a touch of light bitterness. Taste is banana and cove up front before a crisp bitterness into the finish. Clean and well made. Very enjoyable beer.

Pint at some North Hollywood restaurant. Poured a vibrant hazy orange color with a white head. Aroma was bready notes, yeast character, banana, sweet malts. Bready notes, some banana, spice character and a touch of malts. Pretty enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a hazy very dark golden color with a fairly thick white head. Nose is fairly light and wheaty with some citrus in there. Taste is a little heavy and much the same as the nose. OK, not great.

Bottle, likely old as hell because everything else I bought from Total Wine in Huntington Beach was - Pours hazy golden with a foamy white head. Nose is tart oakiness with orange rind and some plasticy yeast. Taste has a lot of the same plastic yeast, real dry and astringent, covering up any banana or clove notes that might be there. Dry, mineral finish, fairly astringent. Full body with soft carbonation. I’ve never had a soured hefe, but boy this is not my thing.

22 oz. bomber. It pours a rather dark hazy orange color with a nice white head that shrinks quickly. The aroma is big on sweet bubble gum with some clove and good wheat malt balance. Not too spicy. The flavor is a decent balance of weizen yeast spice with bubble gum and banana, but the body is too thick and it’s a bit on the sweet side with some weird orange thing going on. A little under carbonated for the style as well. Needs to have a lighter, more delicate body and be drier to be worthy of the high ranking.
