3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 oc4111 (106) - USA - AUG 12, 201222oz bottle poured into a large wheat beer glass. Pours a dark cloudy orange. Nicely formed head with rings of lacing. Aroma and taste is bavarian yeast, banana, clove and a slight hint of lemon. Refreshing hefe. Best American version of a German hefe I’ve had although I haven’t had the offerings from New Gladiator.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a weizen glass. Pours cloudy light orange with large deep golden hightlights with huge fluffy head which has staying power. Well carbonated, medium body, and estery aroma. Taste is rich esters, tart, and clove. Really good hefe.

On tap. Nice glowing yellow murky pour with a froth of white foam. Aroma is banana with some clove and a touch of light bitterness. Taste is banana and cove up front before a crisp bitterness into the finish. Clean and well made. Very enjoyable beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 maxwelldeux (2226) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - APR 3, 2013
Bottle. Pours a hazy very dark golden color with a fairly thick white head. Nose is fairly light and wheaty with some citrus in there. Taste is a little heavy and much the same as the nose. OK, not great.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 madvike (2090) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - APR 3, 2013
Bottle, likely old as hell because everything else I bought from Total Wine in Huntington Beach was - Pours hazy golden with a foamy white head. Nose is tart oakiness with orange rind and some plasticy yeast. Taste has a lot of the same plastic yeast, real dry and astringent, covering up any banana or clove notes that might be there. Dry, mineral finish, fairly astringent. Full body with soft carbonation. I’ve never had a soured hefe, but boy this is not my thing.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 joeneugs (2144) - Livermore, California, USA - FEB 20, 2013
22 oz. bomber. It pours a rather dark hazy orange color with a nice white head that shrinks quickly. The aroma is big on sweet bubble gum with some clove and good wheat malt balance. Not too spicy. The flavor is a decent balance of weizen yeast spice with bubble gum and banana, but the body is too thick and it’s a bit on the sweet side with some weird orange thing going on. A little under carbonated for the style as well. Needs to have a lighter, more delicate body and be drier to be worthy of the high ranking.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 JCB (3808) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - DEC 24, 2012
Cheap-ass bomber from Sam’s, Durham. Weird how this brewery just kind of snuck into the state and nobody ever seems to talk about (or drink?) them. Figured I’d plunge on a Hefe on a warm day, and was met with a nice looking but fairly bland beer. The one distinctive and redeeming feature to me was a moderate tartness in the taste, as if from unripe orange or something.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 burg326 (2326) - Florida, USA - DEC 11, 2012
Bomber bought at Greenville Beer Exchange, poured a hazy golden yellow color, aromas of wheat, light lemon zest, banana, and a touch of clove. Flavors followed suit with a slight utter aftertaste, don’t know if it was due to the bottle, but a decent hefe overall that I would easily drink again.

Draft @ Stone Brewing World Bistro and Gardens, Escondido, CA. Pours a hazy orange color with a small white head. Has a fruity wheat malty banana aroma. Sweetish wheat malty spicy banana flavor. Has a sweetish wheat malty banana finish.
