Aggie80 (685), Michigan, USA Apr 16, 2005 Nice color with good head and nice lacing. The hop level is very nice, with good malts in the back. Just the right amount of bitterness in the background. SuIIy (1109), W Newton, Massachusetts, USA Feb 28, 2005 I really liked this one. Darker in color than most pale ales, but it still has a very nice, light taste to it, with just a little bite Brad (364), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Feb 22, 2005 One of the last beers of the night, so my recollection is kind of foggy. I remember missing the biting finish of hops found in most pale ales that I enjoy. Felt good in the mouth, partly do to the carbination, but just didn’t taste all that good. Inveigler (371), Ferndale, Michigan, USA Dec 4, 2002 In 2001, there was a statewide contest for Michigan brewers. All brewers were given the same ingredients and asked to brew a pale ale. Afterwards, a panel of judges determined the best pale ale from contributing Michigan brewers. Lily’s won. I am not sure if this is from the same batch ... which would make it very old. But they labeled this beer "people’s choice." An unfortunate name. The balance of this brew is way off. Overly malty with the hops fighting for attention. If this is a new beer, it’s amazing they ever won. If this is the original, why are they selling it so long after it’s best served date. A very dissatisfying beer from an otherwise great brewery and restaurant.
