Inveigler (371), Ferndale, Michigan, USA Sep 19, 2002 A slight whiff of homebrew diacytel. Tons of caramel malts. Excellent hops to malt balance. This brew tastes crafted ... I know that might be an odd comment, but I can’t put a descriptor on it. Sweet malt flavors counterbalanced with a slight malt derived zip. Hops tingle at the front of the tongue. This is a great example of an amber ale. proc (342), Dearborn, Michigan, USA Feb 23, 2003 This amber is a decent beer. Pours out to the usual amber color in the glass with a slight head. Aroma is that of biscuits/bread dough. Taste is quite malty with a slightly sweet aftertaste. Good, but not overly exciting. Would be a good beer to introduce a macro drinker to try. Jfishback13 (271), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA Sep 24, 2002 This was failry tasty... I still prefer the stout, but this is a good attempt. I think it reminds me of ’Hops Restaurant’s’ Red. Decently hoppy, but the malt is still present... On my first sip I was afraid that the beer would bee too sweet... or too hoppy, but it is balanced well. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Sep 8, 2006 Draft. Small ivory head that mostly diminished, excellent lacing, transparent, no visible carbonation, and the hue was orange. Malt, caramel and hoppy nose. Ditto for the flavor with a bit of bitterness thrown in. Smooth mouthfeel. SuIIy (1405), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Feb 28, 2005 Updated: Mar 10, 2005Great, rich red color, with a bright white head. Very smooth, with a great after taste. Zach Diesel (907), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 25, 2004 great malty aroma, cloudy orange with a nice off white head, strong malt presence, a tad watery before a light hoppy aroma JoeM500 (1876), Chicago (little italy), Illinois, USA Oct 28, 2003 Very hoppy aroma from an amber beer with no head. Oily and thin, but nicely balanced between light toasty malts and bitter hops. Very drinkable, session beer. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA Mar 31, 2005 Tap. Attractive reddish amber color with a decent off-white head. Decent amount of hoppy aroma which is promising. On the lighter side of medium bodied. Decent balance with a decidedly hoppy finish. Fair to decent beer.
