badnewsbeers (982), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Apr 15, 2007 sampled at Lansing Winter Beer Fest 07’...probably the worst beer at the show...aroma was nice and sweet (chocolate and toast)...thin palate led to a bitter, dry roasted watered-down coffee flavor Silphium (2017), Lansing, Michigan, USA Feb 25, 2007 Sampled at the 2nd annual Michigan Winter Beer Festival, Lansing. Nice chocolate and roast in the aroma, but the beer was of the thin, acidic woody roast variety, with little depth or heft. Not a show-stopper by any means. thedm (3406), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 30, 2006 This draft brew from the Michigan Brewers Guild Festival poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that was mostly diminishing and left behind a . The aroma was malty roasted malt and toasted malt. The mouth feel was smooth flat and weakly tingly from start to finish with a mild malt bite. The weak flavor contained notes of malt. Not one that I would drink again as it was just too flat and lifeless. hotstuff (3038), Indiana, USA Sep 20, 2006 Draft. Poured a small tan head with sparse lacing, opaque, and no visible carbonation. Burnt, roasty, nutty nose. Flavor was dry, roasty, coffee, and thin. Smooth mouthfeel. Light-medium body. Needs to have a stronger flavor and stronger body for this style. tupalev (2299), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 31, 2006 Ok, so this was my last beer of the fest. MBG 06. Black, white head. Lots of roast in aroma. Sharp hops, thin body, roasty taste. Nice but thin. Decent.
