4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bought this recently from my local supermarket...I enjoy Pilsner Urquell, and was really impressed by this local interpretation of the Czech style. Plenty of bitterness, and seems well balanced. Crisp, clean and really drinkable. I’ll have more!

Bottled. One of New Zealands best Pilsners. A great traditional, hoppy nose which tells the story of great Lagers without being too bitter. Wonderfully crisp. Highly recommended.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Clear golden, rich airy head. Obvious haylike saaz hop aroma. Fairly sweet with dense, solid body. The saaz hop character dominates this beer, leading it to a nicely bitter finish. Yes, this is how the better modern Czech pilseners taste like. Spot on style wise, and also thirst quenching and enjoyable.

Tasted 14/01/2006. 330ml bottle from Bar Edward’s in Newtown.
Pours pale gold, brilliant, with a tight white head that holds well and laces all the way down the glass (some credit goes to James - Wellington’s finest glass management here at Bar Ed’s). The nose has three distinct aspects - a subtle malt sweetness that is fresh and biscuity, none of that corny sweetness you get from "premium lagers"; a slightly pollen-like, spicey, hop aroma; and a very subtle, minerally, yeast hint. Flavour is fresh, crisp, with a mild sweetness and a more of that grassy, spicey note in the middle and finish. I’d like to see the malt profile upped a touch, a little richer. Light-med body and a medium carbonation. Very soft in the mouth and easy to drink.
A very good classic pilsner, in amongst the gaggle of "new world pilsners" that are popular in NZ at the moment.

When NZ breweries want to brew good pilsner they certainly can! This is a great drop, it looks good, smells great and is amazingly refreshing. Not quite as much flavour as biman or wanaka brewski but has a little bit more hop bitternes that makes it more refreshing.

Bottle 33cl. Golden clear body with large full head. Fruit and hops in the nose. Sweet, bitter hops in the flavour and a good bitter aftertaste.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
330ml bottle. Nice crisp clean golden colour. Decent head but doesn’t hold as well as I would have expected. Fresh fruit nose a touch floral almost faint airfreshner. Sweeter malts, reasonable body but just lacking that punchy dry crispness that you expect from this style.

Colore dorato chiaro con schiuma bianca, densa e cremosa.Aroma di luppolo e malto dolce.Gusto di malto, dolce.Per una pils ceca in versione neozelandese non č male.
