500ml Bottle - Very dark brown with red tinges and a tan head. Malty and slightly roasted aroma with notes of chocolate and blackcurrant. Chocolatey and roasted taste with notes of coffee, plain chocolate and some slightly smoky hints. Nice one!

Cask handpull, The Silk Mill, Derby, 11/04/14. Alfresco half in the sunshine. Ruby-edged mahogany capped with milky beige. Soft roasted smoked haddock milk, lactic character; a little milky mocha. Nose of old leaves, slight mineral edge, milky roast. Mildewed Quorn sausage. Decent.

Cask at Pub, Leicester; dark brown, thin head; plenty of tangy fruit and toasty malt; good dark beer which slipped down easily (accompanied by some pretty awful fish and chips, sadly!).

Cask conditioned at The Organ Grinder, Nottingham. Black with cream head. Quite a fruity, sharp beer, richly roasted malts but oddly tangy too. Lasting bitterness later on. Decent enough.

500ml bottle - a great looking beer, near black body, thick white head in great condition. Lots of smokiness, chocolate, rich dark fruits, coffee, very nice aroma. Rich mouthfeel, with a taste of dark chocolate, kick of cocoa, afterwards bitter and lasting mocha taste. First one I’ve had from Lincoln Green, and it has made a great impression. Very, very nice.

Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Black with a firm beige foam. Aromas are coffee and gritty, dark chocolate with light oatiness. Coal and leather with some smoke. Blackberry fruitiness with hints of lemon. Flavours are dry, rich roast malts with some tart berries. Bittersweet dark chocolate with grapefruit bitterness and some floral, peppery notes. Drier and more bitter on the finish than I expected. A good robust porter.

Very dark coffee brown coloured beer with a weak beige head. A distinctly smoky aroma, likened to smoky bacon flavoured crisps! There is also a good dose of malt. Light syrupy mouthfeel. Treacly sweet flavour with the smoky element again and a malty background. The finish is smoky and sweet! Tasted at the Wellington, Birmingham.
