Gouverneur Brune (Brown) is truly a special beer. This top-fermented beer, with an alcohol content of 6,5% by volume, derives its very characteristic flavour from two varieties of dark caramel malt. This caramel malt gives the beer a unique taste and a deep, ruby-red colour. Lindeboom uses the best ingredients for all Gouverneur Beer, like Tetnanger hop from the South of Germany and, more importantly, the almost 140 years old brewing tradition.

(bottle, 30cl) Clear, brown colour with a beige and tall foamy head. Toasty malty, slightly sugary aroma with notes of caramel, chocolate, red berries and strawberries. Moderately sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a soft carbonation. Rather slim malty base with toasty caramel accents, accompanied by berry fruits and a tinge of chocolate; notes of alcohol show up during the finish. 15.X.12

Bottle. Quite a low abv considering the style. Cola pour, modest foam head. Fresh and crisp aroma of slightly burnt malts, prunes, hint of dark chocolate, grass, hint of bock, burnt caramel. Not bad. The taste reveals the sweetness from the aroma: chocolate, prune, malts, bock. Relatively neutral aftertaste. As with the other Lindeboom brews, this is not an explosion of tastes and aroma. Nonetheless, pour me another one!

30cl bottle at home. Amber brown with a medium tan head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Pretty sweet with some bitter tones. Malts, hay, ripe fruits, caramel, brown sugar and herbs. An ok but not too special brew.
