Venloosch Alt is a top-fermented ale, brewed from one blond and two dark varieties of malt. This amber coloured ale has a full-bodied, spicy aftertaste. When boiling, the wort is slightly spiced with citrus and coriander. In this way, after a considerable period of maturation and storage, a full-flavoured top-fermented ale is born..

Bought a bottle at Jan Linders in Eindhoven. The beer has a amber color and a small white head, CO2 level is a little low. In the aroma tones of fruits, spices, some coriander and bread. The taste is a little sour, sweet and has a bitter aftertaste. Also in taste tones of spices, citrus and some caramel. The finish is sweet, dry and has a medium bitterness which is noticable for a while. A very reasonable altbier, can compete with Diebels.

Bottle 300 ml bought at the local Jan Linders. Into an altbier glass. ABV 5% Colour is amber brown, transparent, with good activity in the beer. Two fingers of thin head, off white in colour, with average retention. Light lacing left on the glass. Aroma of malts, light roasted ones, some grass and toffee as well. Appealing. Taste is moderate sweet at first but only for a while. Malts, grass, hay, some light toffee, a touch of bitterness at the end, with a little bit of hops. The body is medium thin, carbonation is average. Overall nothing exciting, altbier as appearance and aroma are concerned but then it tastes more like a pale lager. Still, drinkable enough.
