Lindemans Cassis Lambic

Bottle, foiled, capped and corked. Pours opaque purplish red with a thick and lacy dark pink head. Aroma of vinegar, berries and oak with a little hint of funk. Medium-light body and tingly carbonation. Sweet taste of berries, lemons and earth with a tart and lightly oaked finish. Maybe they could back off a little bit on the sweetness, and Lindemans gets slagged regularly for not making a ’real’ lambic; but this is still a refreshing and pretty well balanced beer. No complaints here.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours a dark red with a small pink head and a strong smell of cassis. The mouthfeel is soft and the taste is pretty sweet and really high on fruit, this doesn’t feel or taste like a beer at all. And that the bad thing about this fruit lambic, it is easy-drinking and refreshing, but there’s just nothing beerish our lambicish about it

Pours a reddish blood color with a medium sized pink head. Nose is berries, sour funk, wood, and grass. Taste is pretty mild and sweet, nicely balanced and refreshing. Pretty good mouthfeel is nice and thick.

Pours with a frothy, initially 1/2-finger thick, purple stained, off-white colored head, that sits on top of a deep, very dark purple colored beer. The beer does show a brilliantly clear, cherry red color when held up to the light. This smells intensely of sweet, syrup-like fruit; Concord grape jam, candied prunes, a sort of vegetal fruit character ( sort of ripe cucumber / unripe-melon if that makes sense), a green grape character. The aroma is very lightly funky too, with touches of musty, damp earth and a slight mold character.

Despite expecting it, this beer is still shockingly sweet, though it is not to the point of being syrup-like in consistency. A bit like a concentrated fruit juice, though it still has a distinct, green, vegetal note to it. Slightly tannic, at least enough to slightly coat the teeth and palate, also somewhat thick, though it is still fairly drinkable. Very fruity tasting & I suppose it tastes just like Cassis syrup, though having never tasted this I can’t say for sure; the fruit tastes like a mix of prunes, green grapes, a touch of kiwi, and perhaps even a touch of cherry cough-syrup. Not really funky at all in the flavor and any sourness is completely drowned out by the sweetness.

Very easy drinking, as long as you can get past the ample sweetness. I have a hard time thinking of this as beer and the sweet fruitiness is just a bit overwhelming. Really not what I want to be drinking, but as a fruit cocktail it is not half bad.

Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Deep purple, pink head. Tart evident black curant aroma. Sweet black currant flavour with a fair amount of drying vinegart acidity. Tart enough to be refreshing, but with a very straight forward and overpowering black currant flavour, taking away the complexity of the lambic base.

Bottle from Bev4Less. Pour a purple color. Aroma is somewhat tart with a bit of a berry smell as well. Somewhat sweet fruity flavor up front. Some tartness in there. Not super tart but good sweet/tart combo.

750ml bottle. Pours an opaque dark purple with a light pint frothy head. Sharp berry aroma. Light body, full mouthfeel, slightly sweet (berry) flavor balance, late very slightly tart finish.

A little too sweet but not bad overall. Color is dark hazy purple. Sweet heavy raspberry taste (I don’t know what currants taste like).
