Commercial Description:
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

Bottle: Poured a deep dark blue color lambic with a big foamy purple head with good retention. Aroma of cassis syrup is dominating and gets pretty close to being gross but stays within a reasonable limit. Taste is dominated by the cassis with some weak notes of sourness and tart. The taste is also very sweet which I usually would mind but I thought it provide a refreshing edge to this beer. Overall, without being anything close to traditional lambic I thought this was a refreshing option that I wouldn’t mind having again.

Bottle. Pours ruby-red with a foamy pink head. Aroma and flavor are both sweetish-sour blackcurrant. Reminiscent of similarly flavored carbonated fruit drinks, but with smoother carbonation and a hint of the yeast. Pretty good, although really more for when you want a blackcurrant beverage than for when you want a beer.

Bottle. Very good stuff. Looks and pours like red wine, except for the pink foam that stays for the whole drinking time. Tastes like Lindemans Kriek on tap, which is great. The aroma is different berries, but better than many krieks because the beer can be felt. The taste is a bit sour, but with a fantastic palate. No words can describe, just try it.

Very much like sparkling grape juice. Not much like most beers. In the style of lambics it seems to be too sweet and the overally look is not appealing.

This tastes like carbonated cranberry juice. I wish real cranberry juice were bubbly and 4% abv. Then I’d probably drink more of it. In the meantime, this will have to do. Good stuff.
