Pinball (2693), Allerød, Denmark Jul 22, 2009 25cl bottle.
deep red, giant pink thick smooth head.
aroma of sweet blackcurrants, sourness and faint acidity.also a dusty note. the blackurrants seem fresh.
flavor is very strong fresh blackcurrant, faint sourness, blackcurrant flavor seems to be a little sweetened. ends nicely sour and fruity. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 16, 2009 Dark red-purple, thick pinkish lavender foam with slight lacing. Simple currant jelly aroma, nicely sour, not as overly sweet as all the rest of theirs. The taste is again currants, not so artificial, sour finish, oaky. Nice. Quack-Duck (3132), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany Jul 14, 2009 bottle, 3.5% ABV, Danke Allen! Dark purpel colour with a purple head. Sour-fruity nose. Sweet, sour end very fruity with lots of cassis flavours, the lambic is well hidden. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jun 30, 2009 355ml corked & capped bottle. Dark reddish purple pour with a pinkish purple head. Big currant nose, some mild sourness is noted, kinda wheaty. big, sweet currant flavor, juicy with a mild sourness late - kinda like red grape juice. A touch of wood in there somewhere. Excellent lace and head retention. Decent carbonation keeps this from coming off sticky. I dug this a lot, but then I really like currants.... hobbersr (393), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jun 27, 2009 Pours a dark pink with a bright electric pink head. Retention and lacing is good. Cassis aroma comes right out of the bottle. Deeper in the snifter it is mushroomy and musty with some sweetness showing through. Tastes like sour apples, cassis and cherries. Palate is soft. This beer is sour enough to keep it interesting, but is too sweet and lacks complexity to be great. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 27, 2009 Good pour! Dark pink / purple head with lots of messy lacing sitting on top of a thick looking purply brew. The aroma is ok but the currant is quite mild and I wish there was a bit more to give this beer a larger presence. What fruit that is found is very good but it is just way too mild. Taste is a let down. I like the currant flavour and the tartness. Fairly one dimensional. What annoys me is that on some sips I get the strong flavour of something that is resembling the taste of blood a bit too closely. It comes and goes. When it is not there this is a very enjoyable brew although pretty plain. Soft carbonation, wonderful feeling swish - actually, I’ve figured it out - excessive swishing brings on the blood taste. I know someone is reading this and seeing the word blood - listen up, it’s the only thing I can think of to describe that distinct flavour so tough tits for you. i enjoyed this beer as all the Lindemans are good drinking beers but this one is the weakest I’ve had so far. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jun 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours raspberry pink, blood-pink if such a color exists, with an electric pink head with fantastical lacing. Nose jumps out of the glass, you could smell this from 2 feet away. Nose is cassis, strawberry, with earth and mushrooms. Quite vinous in its aroma, the nose reminds me of Spanish Garnacha. Palate is quite sweet, with just enough sourness to keep it balanced and pleasant. Some nice tartness and tannins, very fun, not terribly complex, tasty without being serious. minch25 (350), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 17, 2009 Unclear deep purplish red, medium pink head. Quite strong aroma and flavor of blackcurrants. Medium tartness, quite tasty and drinkable. Very accessible and uncomplicated. Velvety texture that I find in some other berry drinks also.
