Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

Bottle pour. Cloudy ruby red color with decent pink head. Strong fruit aroma (similar to a sangria). Taste has an instant sweet taste but becomes overpoweringly sweet with a strong sour taste. Not what I would look for in a beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tolles Lambic. Gerucht fruchtig, aber etwas komisch. Geschmacklich dafür schöne Säure, tolle Früchte, gute Balance. Sehr süffig und tolle Kohlensäure.

Bitter currant taste and slight yeasty taste at onset. The fruit is the star here.Good head and lacing.

25cl bottle @ Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours a deep purple with large purple head. Very rich, sickly sweet blackcurrant taste and slightly fizzy which was a bit off-putting. Don’t think I’ll feel a yearning for this any time soon.

250ml bottle bought at Belgian Beer International in Tsuen Wan.

Translucent dark cherry ruby colour with bits of yeast sediments; Three-quarter finger head with bright pink foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Excellent sticky lacing with minimal carbonation; Very fragrant sweet and tart aroma of black currant, with potent yoghurt, wood barrel strong red wine, light tannic, sugar and malt; Tart-and-sweet taste of black currant juice, with strong yoghurt, light malt, wood barrel, strong tannic, yeast and hint of peppermint; Light body, thin palate; Mouth feel is tartness-dominated yoghurt over pretty tasty black currant juice, with strong tannic and good wood barrel taste. Moderate sweetness, rich and fulfilling. Yes!... Hoppiness is undetactable in nose, and hints of peppermint in taste. Very good tannic for lasting, yoghurty tart and sweet finish; Slightly dry after taste. Easy to mouth.

Comments: A rock solid black currant Lambic: rich body, good lacing, fragrant winey oak barrel nose, very juicy and fruity being balanced by strong yoghurt tartness. Rich and well balanced, one of the top stuff from Lindemans. I like it!

Bottle (250 ml). Reddish purple with a low pink head and some lacing. Aroma is fruity (black currant and blueberries) and sweet with light tartness. No realy funk here. Taste is sweet but less cloying than most sweetened fruit lambic. Light tartness with black currants and sugar notes. Light body. Moderate carbonation. Not too cloying despite the sweetness and the light acidic presence make it reasonably enjoyable.
