KAggie97 (2406), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Jan 9, 2005 Smells like freshly cut vines, which is a tad bit strange... Nonetheless, this is quite a nice ol’ brew. Sour and sweet, with emphasis on the sour. I have never tasted a currant, so I couldn’t begin to tell you how closely this brew resembles one. Good stuff. Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Jan 7, 2005 3,5% ABV. Pours unclear deep red colored with a solid pink head. Aroma of Ribena, black currants with mint tones. Flavor is very heavy also of black currants again with that funny tone of mint. Good sourness in the end. A nice and refreshing beer, but more like a fruit beer than a lambic! Quite impressive for a 3,5% beer! Cornfield (4892), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Jan 3, 2005 Once more, I’m missing the allure of a fruit lambic. This pours a deep burgundy color with a tall, creamy pink head. The aroma is very fruity, of course, and somewhat tart. It’s got a fizzy mouthfeel and tastes like sweet/sour currants. Finishes on a tart, fruity note. tobias (154), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Jan 1, 2005 375ml bottle: pours a nice grape red burgandy color, with a lavender head. the a aroma a tart, musty and fruity with hints of horseyness and oak. the flavors is a quite balabced tart and sweet currant grape like. sour and acidic, yet very sweet for a lambic. there is a slight woody, farm character on the end. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA Dec 22, 2004 My first Lambic!!
Bottle poured a dark burgandy with a small redish head.
Aroma if fruity with a hint of mint and tart.
Flavor is great! fruity sweet with a tart tangy finish.
Very very good!! I guess I’ll be buying more Lambics!! jmuhops (663), Winchester, Virginia, USA Dec 21, 2004 Pours red with a pink head. Very fruity aroma with a faint malt background. First taste is very tart--the rest mellow out very nicely. Good, but the Framboise is better. BeerandBlues2 (3201), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Dec 16, 2004 Pours grape juice red to hazy amber with a pink head, fizzy and some thin lacing. Aroma is strong of oak and then mint with hints of grass and malt. Flavor is fruity and tart with a mint finish. Palate is fizzy and the tartness makes your mouth water. hopscotch (5440), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Dec 15, 2004 Lightly hazy, reddish orange ale with a mid-sized, pink, fizzy head. Good retention and weeping lace. The nose is fruity, earthy and herbal. The flavor is sweet and adequately tart. Medium-bodied and creamy with lively carbonation. Long, tangy finish. For all the reasons I don’t like black currants, I like them in this lambic. They are bitter-sweet. Good in beer. Bad on their own or in syrups, jams, etc.
