Commercial Description:
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

It seemed to retain more of it’s lambic character than the other Lindemans that I have tried. Pours a very dark purple with a medium sized pink and peach colored head. The aroma is deep musty moss with grape juice, currants and lemons. The tastes starts very sweet like grape juice. The lambic then comes out as it warms. I detected a little sourness, raisins and leather. This kept it interesting.

Nice plum color with lively pink head. Nice aroma of sour berries. Flavor to match the aroma, a little yeasty, but wow tons of carbination. What a great way to start a hot summer day.

Earthy, zesty aroma, I assume the berry is curant - very nice. Wine like appearance - ruby red with a matching head. Sweet and sour flavor with the curant playing a prominent role. Mouthfeel is a bit too sticky - kind of coats your tongue like toothpaste - my only complaint - otherwise a very good lambic.

Bottle. Capped & corked. Poured a small sized tan head that was smooth with fine-medium sized bubbles that completely dissipated. Carbonated, transparent and a red hue. Tart and blackberry aroma. Acidic, sour, tart and tangy flavor from start to finish. Very tingly, tart and sour palate. Light-medium bodied with no lacing.

Dark Grape Juice Coloring. Black Currant Aroma... Sweet... Slightly Dry Ending. I prefer the Kriek or the Framboise for Flavor....but This One is Balanced..Smooth...Simple in Flavor. Not a Bad Offering.

Poured a light orangish-purple color with a large off white head. Sweet tart tasting with a puckering aftertaste. I’m not too big of a Lambic fan but this is one of the better one’s I can remember tasting.

Black currant cough drop aroma that I found appealing. Dark red-purple. Delicious fruit flavour, hard to believe this is a beer. Sweet and sour. Makes me anxious to rate some of the higher rated versions of the style.

Bottle into flute, Hopleaf (Chicago) 7/2/04. Pretty standard: tasted like currants. Looked like a fruit beer. Mauve in the glass, pinkish bubbly/foamy head that rocketed upward at first and then mostly diminished. Sweet, but not too sweet, the flavor was a nice intensity, but not complex. Tart, good acidity, good soft carbonation. This was well-balanced and smooth.
