COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

Bottled at DBF 2005. Deep redddish colour with a red head. Aroma is totally dominated by black currants. Acidic flavour of black currants (in Denmark we would say that it tastes like Ribena Solbær). Not bad, but I must admit, that I’m not very fond of black currants.

UPDATED: NOV 4, 2006 Bottle. A very nice sweet black currant aroma up front - hints of yeast. A dark violet color with small pink head. Very pleasant sweet-tart black currant flavor - hints of the lambic mustiness. Moderate carbonation. A very good fruit lambic - quite unique. A great currant flavor.

750 ml bottle. Cork came out with a great pop. Dark purple color with a lighter purple, fizzy head. Aromas of sour grapes and cherries. Tart flavors of grape as well. The finish was sweet, but with a cranberry type drying in the mouth. Left the lips sticky. Very sweet, and not my everyday beer, but very good when sweet is what you want.

Bottle - corked and capped. Pours a purpleish ruby with a small foamy purple head. Nose is laden with black currants, I suppose but also has some minty notes to it. Very odd and sort of artificial smelling. Taste is redeeming, though. It’s sweet and sugary and has more black currant but is surprisingly decent. Body is a bit sticky and has moderate carbonation. Finishes with more black currants, light mint, and sugary notes. Granted I like this least of the Lindemans line (of those I have had), but it’s not horrible.

Purchased for my wife, and she seemed to enjoy it. Purple with a little fizzy head. Musty, sour, berry aroma. Sour, black currant fruit flavor. It seems to be of adequate quality for a lambic. These lambics just dont hold any attraction for me. I wouldnt even call them a beer. Overpriced, and a waste of money.

Bottle Purple body. Pink, fizzy head, fully diminishing, good lace. Fruits (off course) int the aroma. Sweet flavour.

Pours a deep red with a dark pink fluffy head that leaves little lacing. Aroma is sour with some nice fruitiness to it. Quite nice. Flavor is pleasant; the currants are subtle and far from overpowering. It’s sour as is the style, but it’s balanced with a nice sweetness presumably from the currants. Palate is crisp and full. Overall, this is nice. It’s not nearly as fruity as a lot of Lambics and would be a good beer to use to show how different beers can be as there is nothing objectionable here at all.

Bottled. Dark red colour, reddish foamy head. Lacing. Strong flavour of blueberries. Blueberries in flavour and a long bitterish finish. Mouthdrying. Very refreshing.

The Lure:
Black currant candies floating in red wine.

The Festivities:
Prickly black currant skin covers the flavor spectrum with its heightened sweetness. Straightforward and perhaps pleasant on a hot summer afternoon.

Transcendence:
I have a hankering for popsicles once in a while.

Strong candy-like black currant aroma has some occasional minty notes. Opaque reddish-purple body with decent cover of pink-white head that laces nicely. Very sweet candy-like fruitiness that is enjoyable but displays very little beer or lambic character. Very slight tartness in the finish. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Bottle (City Market Burlington, Nov. 2004) sampled with beerbuzzmontreal, ClarkVV, MartinT, muzzlehatch, Olivier, Rastacouere and Simon.
