COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lindemans Cassis is a lambic made from local barley, unmalted wheat, and wild yeast. After spontaneous fermentation the lambic is aged in oak. Black currants are added creating a secondary fermentation and yielding an ale of exceptional flavor and complexity.

A dark violet color with a think violet red head with great lacing. Aroma was a mix of bitter currant, sweet malts, and bread like notes. Taste was both a little sweet and tart, but a little more tart than sweet. Both tastes where carried buy a pleasant maltiness to it.

UPDATED: APR 24, 2005 Not surprisingly, pours a dark blueberry color with a touch of light reddish-tan head. Bottle conditioned. Aroma of dry currants, brown bread baking in the oven and a bitterness coming from the yeast or currant tannins. Body is medium and very heavily acidic and sour. But itís not a nice lambic kind of sour, itís a way too much cassis kind of sour. Itís like they dumped a ton of cassis peel extract in. On the finish is a bittersweet flavor that waxes quite sweet and reminds me of those gourmet fruit candies (the sugary blackberry ones). I had to fight to finish this one, and that almost NEVER happens. Better than the kriek but still vastly unbalanced. How do these people make these fruit lambics and also make the Cuvee Rene? Mind boggling. . .
Rerate I donít know why I sugar coated my numbers, well actually it was because these were the first "lambics" I ever had and couldnt compare. All fruit syrup, powerfully sweet, chalky, syrupy, cloying, simple.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2007 (Bottled, 3.5% ABV) Dark, scary, deep blood red with a medium, dark pink, lacy head. Only mildly sweet, but not the most pleasant, blackcurrant juice and blueberry aroma. Slightly sour and acidic, dry-berryish blackcurrant flavor with dry-woody, acidic bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied, thick, quite acidic and mildly sour palate. Too acidic and sour for teenagers, but too sticky-sugary for lambic lovers. Too compromised, IMO, to be a truly enjoyable brew.

A very potent aroma and flavor dominated by sour berries. An excellent beer, though I prefer the Framboise.

Wonderful black currant aroma. Fruity, musky, earthy. Tannic skins mix with light hops. Dark cranberry red, slighly hazy. Light pink head with a bit of lacing. Medium watery body with medium carb. Very tart to start - puckery. Fruity acidic liquid coats the tongue. Lactic sourness at finish. Sweetness is there but not overpowering. Fruity & light bitter after.

Deep purple body with a pink head rapidly diminishing to nice lacing. The aroma was not surprisingly like a kir-royale. Body, thick and rich blackberry flavour.Smooth acidic finish.

Dark ruby and purple appearence. Off white head that fizzles away into nothing. Sharp, acrid aromas of currant. Currant flavors mostly. Musky body with a sharp finish. Fairly one dimensional.

Poured very dark, the color of grape juice concentrate. Aroma is very spearmint-like. I found this Lambic quite enjoyable. Flavor is very sweet with lots of grape and berry tastes intermixed. Quite good.

I did not really care for this one, I found the flavors too be a little over the top and cloying. Everything about it is really nice, but just not to my taste. Pours very pretty in pink so to speak, with a big puffy head that fades away quickly. Lots of dark fruits, berries and currants.

Blown away! This was a fantastic drink. Beautiful red body with frothy "pink" head. Looked more like a sparkling wine. The aroma was tantalizing. Very berry. The taste was awesome. Good feel in the mouth and more berries in the flavor. This is delicious. Will be stocking up.
